My father is James Ralph Norwood, Sr., born in Boyce Louisiana and was the son of Noel B. Norwood, Jr. Noel's dad was Noel B. Senior. With the help of others I have been able to determine that the Noel Norwood name dates back to my GGGGrandfather born in 786. This adventure has been fun but it would sure be nice to finish the puzzle. Your site has been helpful. Hope it continues to grow with even more information.

The theories about Francis N. and Clement Coldham are most interesting, as I had read about C. Coldham in the NEHGR and Marion Callam's Norwoods I and II. Through a kind cousin in Mt. Desert, I know the line of descent from Joshua I to my grandfather, Ge rge Haskell Norwood of Dedham and Bangor (d. VA ca. 1902). Well, I think i finally found the connection. My grandfather is Francis Marion Norwood V. I can trace his line, for certain, to Francis Marion Norwood III. I was stumped. Then I read your "Life as Lived in the Francis Norwood Homestead." I knew there had to be a connection some where. And there it was. Francis' son, Jonathan, had a son, Francis the 3rd!!! Unless someone calls and tells me that this is not the man I've been searching for, I'm calling this a victory! This is a wonderful site and I am so glad to have found my connection
