Instructions for Monthly Program Chairpersons

How to Obtain CLE Credit from the KBA

1.

Contact the potential guest speaker and arrange for a CLE presentation. SGBA meets on the last Tuesday of each month. Please note that the last Tuesday is not necessarily the fourth Tuesday. Request the guest speaker to prepare (1) an outline of the presentation and (2) a short biographical sketch for the KBA's CLE approval.

2.

Once the guest speaker has provided the outline and the biographical sketch, print out the KBA CLE approval form and fill in the blanks. It is important that all applicable blanks be filled in. When filling out the form, please note that the KBA requires some method of evaluation.

3.

KBA charges a fee for CLE approval. The fee is $10 if the form is submitted more than thirty days in advance. The fee is $25 if submitted less than thirty days in advance. Monthly program chairpersons can either obtain a check from SGBA's treasurer or simply pay the fee and obtain reimbursement from the treasurer.

4.

Deliver these four items to the KBA CLE approval office: (1) the speaker's outline, (2) the speaker's biographical sketch, (3) the KBA CLE approval form, and (4) the check (either $25 or $10). It is often a good idea to personally deliver these items to the CLE office, just in case there are any problems you can clarify at that time.

5.

Once the KBA has approved the CLE, the KBA will issue an approval number, which should be brought to the SGBA meeting so SGBA members can fill out their CLE forms. SGBA members especially appreciate those particularly efficient program chairpersons who print out the KBA Attendance Certification form and provide the form at the SGBA meeting with all the relevant blanks typed in (title of program, activity number, etc.).
