I'M STILL HAVING BILL SCAN IN MY QUILT PICTURES!
IF YOU CAN'T GET MY QUILT PICTURES
PLEASE TRUST THAT IT IS ME....NOT YOU.
THIS IS A PROJECT UNDER CONSTRUCTION!
One of my favorite quilts was made by my Mother-In-Law, Jean Wasson. She made a quilt for each of her four children and for Bill and I, she made a Double Wedding Ring Quilt. Here are two views of this quilt. It took a First Place at the Fort Bend County Czech Fest in 1990.
This is a Mariner's Compass that I completely hand stitched and hand quilted. The hand quilting is 1/4" apart on the whole piece. Here are two views of this wall hanging. I use it as a drape on the back of the living room sofa or sometimes as a table topper.
This is the very first quilt that I ever made. It was made with material my Grandma Crenshaw gave me. I carefully hand stitched all the yellow squares and had extra's left over that I stuck in where I thought they should be. I put them where ever. Grandma Crenshaw explained that things didn't have to be symetrical to be beautiful. She didn't fuss about the arrangement of the blocks....it was fine with her, if it was fine with me. The amazing thing about this is that "Miss Jeppie" (as Grandma Crenshaw was known) was a perfectionist and one of the things I remember about her teaching me to sew was teaching me to take out stitches!
This is a "Sunbonnet Sue" quilt that was made in the early '50s by my Aunt Pat. She gave it to me when I was a junior in high school (about 30+ years ago) when our family visited her and my Grandma Kirn in Arizonia.
This is a Sampler Quilt I made and occassionally quilt on. I used a very "puffy" batting as an experiment, it turned into an experience I don't want to repeat and "puffy" batting is now on my "Never Again" list. The picture doesn't do the color's justice.
This is another view of the "Heart's Desire" quilt in my sewing room. The picture on the lower left-hand wall is Tom Selleck - something to inspire me as I sew!!! :+)
This is crocheted afghan made by Bill's Grandma Trent. She made one for each of her grandchildren and had an unusual technique of carrying the different colored yarns in the pattern. It's very pretty and the workmanship is beautiful.
This is a very large quilt that is big enough to hang completely over the sides of a king-size bed. It is hand appliqued and hand quilted. I don't know the name of the pattern, it's a made-up design that is supposed to be a magnolia except the colors are not true to life...I just liked the pinks!
This is a quilted jacket that I made in the early '80s. I got a lot of wear out of it but now it's starting to fade and have worn spots in the fabric. But I still love it. It was my first venture into quilted garments. Another one with two views!
This is my first attempt at machine applique....they're supposed to be yellow calico dogs!
These are some quilt tops and wall hangings that I have made. Some photographed better than others.
