My Birth Story

Let me start by saying that I wasn't due until November 28,1997. I surprised my mommy and daddy by coming early! Mommy and Daddy went to their childbirth class on Monday, Nov. 3, just like all the previous Mondays. This night was special because they got to tour the birthing suite. They saw how everything worked in Suite 28. They also practiced all the breathing methods for when Mommy goes into LABOR. Well, Mommy wasn't feeling too good. They went home and my mommy got sick and went to bed early. Around 1:00 a.m. she woke up with sharp pains in her back, but thought it was because she woke up on her back. She rolled to her side and was back in dreamland. This was the first time in a long time that she slept well. Or so she thought! At 3:00 a.m. she felt a strange sensation and woosh--her water broke. She woke up Daddy, who thought she was joking. Ha! Ha! Joke's on him. Mommy got up and went to the bathroom to clean up and get dressed. That's when the contractions started. Time to call the doctor. They quickly got all their things together and headed for the hospital. By the time they got to there, Mommy's contractions were very close so the nurse put her right into a birthing suite--number 27. They checked Mommy and she was dilated to 5 cm. already. Yahoo, I didn't want to wait. My mommy decided that she wanted some pain relief, but by the time the anesthesiologist came back, it was too late. My mommy said she needed to push and sure enough, she was dilated to 10 cm. She pushed for a short time, and out I came--one hour and forty-nine minutes after Mommy's water broke!! Pretty good for her first time. I guess I was just in a hurry to meet my mommy and daddy. They were so happy to see me.
