PROGRAMS

Family and Youth Care

Family & Youth Care is a preventative family support service offering time limited services to children and their families, where there is risk of the children being removed from their home or community if such intervention is not provided. Referrals are strictly through the Ministry for Children & Families. Funded by the Ministry for Children and Families.

Family Support

This program is flexible and offers a range of services, such as advocacy, general support, resource information, parent/teen conflict mediation, divorce and separation issues and many other areas. Open referral. Funded by the Ministry for Children and Families.

Empowerment to Children

This is a program for families who have a child with developmental disabilities or a developmental delay. The emphasis of the program is to enable parents to meet the special challenges of parenting children with delays or disabilities. We attempt to assist the family in identifying their needs as a whole and their child's needs. We then work both individually with the child or with the family to meet their needs. Open referral. Funded by the Ministry for Children and Families.

At Risk Minors Services

This program was designed to meet the needs of females between the age age of 13 and 20 who are high risk street youth. The programs intention is to access school re-entry, independent living skills, obtaining gainful employment and social skills. Open referrals. Funded by the Ministry for Children & Families.

Infant Development

Infant Development is a program that works with children birth to three years of age who are at risk of having a developmental delay. The program assists parents to optimize their child's development by participation in a full range of community activities and to encourage overall development of the child, with emphasis on individual requirements. Open referral. Funded by the Ministry for Children and Families.

Special Services to Families with Special Needs

This program offers services to adults with cognitive disabilities and their children. The service will provide general support for families, enhance parenting skills, advocacy services, etc. Services are offered in the family's home, community. Referrals are made through Ministry for Children & Families. Funded by the Ministry for Children and Families.

CORR Home Program

The CORR program is a support service for young offenders. The Youth is under the supervision of a Youth Court Order or the Youth Corrections Branch. Youths are placed in a family environment as an alternative to custody. The program strives to reintegrate the youth back into their homes once they are equipped with the social and personal skills necessary for success. Placements are time limited, usually less than six months.

New Beginnings

New Beginnings is a residential program for pregnant and/or parenting teen moms. This program offers a stable and healthy environment to pregnant and parenting moms to develop life skills in the area of: education, employment, nutrition, budgeting and parenting. Clients may stay in the program approx. 18 months or as needed. Open referral. Funded by the Ministry for Children and Families.

Nobody's Perfect

Nobody's Perfect is a parenting program for parents with children under the age of 5 years. This program offers 3 - 8 week sessions from Oct to June. Topics covered during the sessions include: children's health, safety and behavior, coping with stress, sharing ideas, tips and experiences. Referrals through Skeena Health or you may phone the Facilitators at the numbers below. Funded by the North West Community Health Services Society.

Community Service Hours

This program places clients who have hours to complete through the court system with non-profit agencies to complete their hours. Funded by the Ministry of Attorney General.

Mental Health Rehabilitation Program

The Mental Health Rehab program provides services to adults with a mental illness. Services will focus on building social skills, daily living skills, reduce loneliness, isolation and provide emotional and practical support so clients may maintain the highest attainable levels of functioning. Referral through Mental Health only. Funded by the North West Community Health Services Society.

Community Supportive Living

An outreach program designed to identify service improvement needed to enhance the quality of care for the adult/chronic/psychiatrically/ill. To increase or maintain the functional status of clients so that they may lead as normal a life as possible. Funded by the North West Community Health Services Society.

Residential Home Support

A Semi-independent living resource for adults with a mental disability. This program provides social/recreational and life skills as well as support for every day living.Referral is through Ministry of Health. Funded by the North West Community Health Services Society.

Children Who Witness Abuse

This program is for children who are between the ages of 3 - 18 yrs who have witnessed abuse of threats of violence in their home. This program provides one-one-one counselling as well as group counselling for the child. Services will also be provided for the non offending parents who have been abused. Funded by the Ministry for Children & Families.

Supported Child Care

Provides families with children birth to 12yrs who require extra support to participate in child care setting of their choice. Referrals are accepted by the Supported Child Care consultant from community resources, professionals and parents. Eligibility will be determined by the Ministry for Children and Families Community Living Social Worker. Funded by the Ministry for Children and Families.
