Goodell observed the golden wedding anniversary of their marriage at a recent celebration in their Bradley home. The Goodells were married July 18, 1887 at Inca in Pratt County, Kansas. On their wedding day they drove 20 miles with a team hitched to a spring wagon and with the heat several points above 100 degrees. For several years the newlyweds lived on a farm near Inca, but in 1898 they loaded their belongings into a farm wagon made with a white canvas cover and headed for Humboldt County in Iowa. This trip took exactly four weeks of driving. Here they lived until 1907, when they moved to Bradley in Clark County. For 10 years they again resided on a farm and later moved to Bradley where they have since resided. To the Goodells were born three children: Bert W. Goodell of Bradley, Mrs. Ray Gates of Aberdeen and Mrs. W. O. Wesenberg also of Bradley. They now have 10 grandchildrenand one great grandson, all living except for one, Dorothy Gates, who died at the age of five years. This was the only death in 50 years. At the recent celebration all the children and grandchildren were present except Mrs. Velma Goodell Kaufman of Sioux City, Iowa. Among the guests in attendance were Rev. and Mrs. F. C. Page of Faulkton. It was Rev. Page who had performed the marriage ceremony of all three children and again repeated the marriage vows of 50 years ago for the celebrant. On this day also was administered the holy baptism of their great grandson, Allen Ellis Gates of Washington, D.C. At noon a picnic dinner was served to a group of relatives on the attractive lawn of the Goodell home. Open house was held between 4 and 6 o'clock in the afternoon when refreshments were served to about 100 guests. Out of town guests for the occasion were: Mr. and Mrs. Ray Gates and sons, Robert and Donald of Aberdeen, Mr. and Mrs. Ellis Gates and son, Allen of Washington, D.C., Mr. and Mrs. James McDonald of Ellendale, N.D., Rev. and Mrs. F. C. Page of Faulkton, Mr. and Mrs. E. A. Seavers, Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Seavers and family of Garden City, Miss Ausla Jordahl and John Edwards of Minneapolis, Mr. and Mrs. H. D.
