ROBERT BEGGS was born in 1803 in Ireland and died between 1860 and 1870 in Leon County, Texas. His first wife was Mary Caufield whom he married on August 14, 1827 in Greene County, Alabama. After the death of Mary, Robert married Mrs. Caroline Mitchell. Robert and Mary's children were Robert Jr., Henry James, Nancy, Margaret, Elizabeth, Mary Jane, Susan, Charlotte, Isabella, William A. and Oscar Beggs.

ROBERT BEGGS, JR. was born in Greene County, Alabama, son of Robert Beggs and Mary Caufield. No futher information.

THOMAS BLAKELY was born in 1809 in Ireland. He married Martha Watson, a sister of Isabella, Mary Ann, James J., Samuel, and David Watson. Their children were Isabella, Elizabeth, George, Mary, Robert, Thomas W., and Martha. After Martha's death, Thomas married Mary Johnston on June 3, 1854 in Greene County, Alabama which surprised the citizens of Greene County. Thomas was 44 and Mary was 18 when they married. They apparently never had children. Thomas died on December 16, 1865 and is buried in Bethsalem Presbyterian Church Cemetery in Greene County, Alabama.

ELIZABETH CASTLES CAMPBELL was born in Ireland about 1820, daughter of Thomas Castles and Mary Greenleaf. She married Thomas Campbell. No futher information.

WILLIAM CASTLES was born May 15, 1815 in Ireland and died January 14, 1899 in Leon County, Alabama. He married Darcus Cotter Campbell on January 22, 1842. Their children were Nancy Cosby, Thomas, Lorenzo, William John, Samuel Alexander, Martha Hannah, and Mary Isabella. After the death of Darcus, William married Mrs. Nancy H. Garland. Darcus was a sister of Elizabeth Campbell who married Sampson Mawhinney.

HENRY CAUFIELD was born in 1793 in Ireland and died October 16, 1867 in Greene County, Alabama. His wife was Isabella Watson whom he married on July 19, 1830 in Greene County, Alabama. Their children were Thomas G., Letitia, Elizabeth W., Henry P., and William I. Caufield.

ISABELLA WATSON CAUFIELD was born in 1806 in Ireland and died March 15, 1870 in Greene County, Alabama. He married Henry Caufield on July 19, 1830 in Greene County, Alabama. Their children were Thomas G., Letitia, Elizabeth W., Henry P., and William I. Caufield.

HENRY JOHN CAUFIELD was born on January 21, 1827 in Grenne County, Alabama, son of Thomas Caufield and Mary Ann Watson. He married Martha Caroline Jones on November 14, 1856 in McLennan County, Texas. Their children were Elizabeth, Wiley Watson, Thomas Aquilla, Martin Cavitt, Mary, George Henry, and Minnie Dee. Henry died on July 11, 1915 in McGregor, McLennan County, Texas.

MARY ANN WATSON CAUFIELD was born about 1799 in Ireland, the eldest of George Watson and Letitia Carson. She married Thomas Caufield in 1820 in Ireland. She died July 21, 1845 in Greene County, Alabama. Their children were Watson, Mary Jane, Henry John, David George, and Elizabeth.

THOMAS CAUFIELD was born in 1788 in Ireland and died January 12, 1859 in Greene County, Alabama. He married Mary Ann Watson in 1820 in Ireland. Their children were Watson, Mary Jane, Henry John, David George, and Elizabeth. After the death of Mary Ann, Thomas married Mrs. Mary A. Brooks on August 17, 1849 in Greene County, Alabama.

THOMAS CAUFIELD was born on July 21, 1831 in Greene County, Alabama, son of Henry Caufield, Jr. and Isabella Watson. He married Eliza J. (one source says Jennie Smith Doyle) and they had two children Henry J. and Isabella Caufield. Thomas died on February 9, 1871 in Texas.

WATSON CAUFIELD was born on April 9, 1821 in Ireland and died November 14, 1903 on the Caufield ranch near McGregor, Texas. He was the eldest son of Thomas Caufield and Mary Ann Watson. He never married.

GEORGE HAYES DUNNwas born on September 30, 1824 in Greene County, Alabama, son of James Dunn and Isabella Caufield. He migrated to Robertson County, Texas about 1848 and married Nancy Jane Killough. George and Nancy had a total of 13 children.

JAMES DUNN, III was born on July 26, 1821 in Charleston, Charleston County, South Carolina. He married Missouri McGary on February 14, 1850 in Texas. He and Missouri only had two children, Mary E. and George. James died before 1872 in Navarro County, Texas.

SILAS R. ALEXANDER FORD was married to Lucinda Jane Coleman on December 17, 1845 in Greene County, Alabama. He was born in 1817 in Tennessee and his wife in 1820 in Alabama. According to the 1850 Greene County, Alabama census, their children were Julia A., Josephine, Eugene, Rebecca, and William Ford.

MARGARET HENRY WILSON FULLERTON was born in 1810 in Ireland and died in 1868 in Texas. She was a sister of William, James, and Hugh Henry. She married first to William H. Wilson. Their children were Isabella and Rev. James Wilson. After William Wilson's death, Margaret married William Fullerton who was a brother of John Henry Fullerton who married Sarah Caufield. William Fullerton and Margaret's children were Mary Jane, Margaret Reed, Edward and Robert Fullerton.

JOHN THOMAS GRESHAM was born June 4, 1817 in Virginia and died July 15, 1870 in Leon County, Texas. His wife was Elizabeth Caufield whom he married on May 12, 1836 in Greene County, Alabama. Elizabeth was previously married to George Johnston. John and Elizabeth never had issue.

BENJAMIN WASHINGTON HALE was married to Eliza E. Smith on September 10, 1855 in Greene County, Alabama.

JEWIT HIBBARD HALE was married to Mary J. Coleman on December 30, 1851 in Greene County, Alabama.

THOMAS JEFFERSON HAMMONDS was married to Mary Elizabeth E. Hale on June 21, 1838 in Greene County, Alabama.

ARCHIBALD HANNA was the oldest of the Hanna brothers. He was born in 1817 in South Carolina, son of Samuel and Sarah Hanna. He married Susan who was born in 1822 in South Carolina. Their children were Esther R., Samuel, and Sarah Hanna.

ROBERT YOUNG HANNA was born in 1823 (1850 Census) in South Carolina, son of Samuel and Sarah Hanna, and married Mary who was born in 1833 in South Carolina. Their children were James, Sarah A., and Susanna. Robert's mother, Sarah (born in 1773 in SC) lived with him in 1850. Sarah died on November 14, 1853 and is buried in Bethsalem Presbyterian Church Cemetery in Greene County, Alabama.

SAMUEL HANNA, JR. was a son of Samuel and Sarah Hanna. He was born in 1819 in South Carolina. He married Margaret C. and their children were Ellen J., William, Sarah S., Andrew Y., and Mary E. Samuel was mentioned a few times in the Caufield letters.

JAMES HENRY was born in 1802 in Ireland and died after 1850. His wife was Jennett who was born in 1800 in South Carolina. Their children were Livingworth, James, Alexander, Margaret, Anna, Jane, and Jennett C. Henry. James was a brother of William Henry who married Mary Fullerton, Hugh Henry who married Elizabeth McMillan, and Margaret Henry who married (1) William Wilson and (2) William Fullerton.

ROBERT MILLER HENRY was married to Jane Catherwood (or Leatherwood?) on August 27, 1849 in Greene County, Alabama. He was probably a son of one of the Henry brothers.

ELIZABETH BEGGS HUGHES was born about 1832 in Greene County, Alabama and died after 1880 in Leon County, Texas. She married Robert E. Hughes and together they had Mary, Sarah J., Frances E., and Robert E. Hughes Jr.

DUNCAN HUNNICUTT was born in 1815 in South Carolina and a grocer according to the 1850 Census. He lived with the Gould family. He apparently was unmarried.

BENJAMIN PORTER HUNTER was born in 1827 in North Carolina. He was a widower with three children (Laura, William, and Cora) in 1850. He and his family lived with Samuel Edwin Johnston and his family.

LETITIA CASTLES JACKSON was born in Ireland in 1822, daughter of Thomas Castles and Mary Greenleaf. She married John Jackson in 1840. Their children were William B., Thomas J., Mary, Margaret, Sarah J., Joseph L., David E., Mary D., and Andrew Jackson. Letitia died on June 19, 1903 in Newton County, Mississippi.

DAVID G. JOHNSTON was born in Greene County, Alabama in 1824. He was a son of George Johnston and Elizabeth Caufield. He died in Texas. No further information.

HENRY GEORGE JOHNSTON was born on the ship "Isacc" on the way to America from Ireland on December 22, 1822. He was a son of George Johnston and Elizabeth Caufield. He married Mary Lamanda Swilley on January 8, 1847 in Boligee, Greene County, Alabama. Their children were Elizabeth Catherine, Samuel George, Martha Anderson, Henry George, Emma T., Ella Lavinia, Mary Irene, and Kate Edgar Johnston. Henry died on January 13, 1868 in Sumter County, Alabama.

SAMUEL EDWIN JOHNSTON was born in 1812 in South Carolina. His wife was Sarah T. who was born in 1817 in South Carolina. Their children were Surginer, Harrison, Cora, Pattie, Sailor, and Graham.

WILLIAM BEAR JOHNSTON was born in 1797 in Ireland and died in September of 1858 in Greene County, Alabama. His first wife's name is not known. By her, he had Mary and William who were born in New Jersey. Mary married Thomas Blakely. William Sr. married, for the second time, to Martha Johnston on October 18, 1849 in Greene County, Alabama. It is doubtful that William and Martha were related since Martha was a native of North Carolina.

HILLIARD M. JUDGE was born in 1828 in South Carolina. He married Margarett C. Thornton, a native of Kentucky, on May 10, 1841 in Greene County, Alabama. In the 1850 Census, their children were Lucy, Hilliar Jr., Isabella, and Gertrude.

JANE DUNN MAWHINNEY was a daughter of James Dunn and Ann Hayes. She married Alexander Mawhinney and their children were Jennie, Esther, George, and Jim Mawhinney.

SAMPSON MAWHINNEY was born in 1816 in Ireland, a brother of Alexander. He married Elizabeth Campbell who was a sister of Darcus who married William Castles. No further information.

FRANCIS MCKEOWN was born in 1802 in Ireland (1850 Census). He married Ellen who was also a native of Ireland. Their children were Isabella, Elizabeth Ann and Ellen. Elizabeth Ann married James Alonzo Dunn. Francis was apparently a very close friend or a distant relative of the Caufield family since he was mentioned several times in the Caufield letters.

RICHARD LAPPING NOTT was born in 1799 in Connecticut. His wife was Martha C. who was born in 1804 in South Carolina. He was a farmer.

RIAL MADISON PHILLIPS was born about 1821 (29 in 1850 Census) in Alabama. He married Martha A. Coleman on March 21, 1844 in Greene County, Alabama. According to the 1850 Census, their children were Robert B. (5 years old), James M. (4 years old), and Susan M. (2 years old).

SARAH CASTLES RED was born about 1816 in Ireland and died after 1902 in Wortham, Freestone County, Texas. She was a daughter of Thomas Castles and Mary Greenleaf. She married Elisha Red, son of James E. Red, on November 10, 1836 in Greene County, Alabama. Immediately after their marriage, Sarah and Elisha migrated to Newton County, Mississippi where their children (Thomas James, Robert B., Jane, Elizabeth Anne, George Washington, Susan, William, Elizabeth, Daniel J., Sarah Ann, Louise, Robert Bruce, Margaret B., and Theophilus) were born.

FRANCIS ROUNDTREE was born about 1800 (50 years old in 1850 Census) in North Carolina. His wife was Nancy who was born about 1803 in Georgia. They had a son, John, who was born about 1823 in South Carolina.

RANDALL WILLIAM STUART was born in 1810 in Ireland. His wife was Mary A. Young whom he married on February 22, 1845 in Greene County, Alabama. Mary A. Young was a daughter of John Young and Mary Dunn. Randall and Mary's children were Mary Ellen and William Shaw. Mary was previously married to Mr. Adair.

NANCY BEGGS SWINDLER was born in Greene County, Alabama. She married Mr. Swindler and probably migrated to Texas. No futher information.

DAVID WATSON was born in 1804 in Ireland, son of George Watson and Letitia Carson. He married Susan B. Caufield on July 19, 1830 in Greene County, Alabama. Their children were: Henry G., Mary Ann, and Eliza Gould. Susan died young in 1837. David probably never remarried. He died on September 10, 1864 in Greene County, Alabama.

JAMES ALEXANDER WATSON was born in 1818 in South Carolina, according to the 1850 Greene County, AL census. He lived with Sumner Hammond. He apparently was unmarried. He is probably related to the Irish Watson's of Greene County, Alabama but exact relationship is not known.

JAMES J. WATSON was born in 1819 in Ireland and died sometime between 1856 and 1860 probably in Robertson County, Texas. He married Eliza Ellis on October 24, 1838 in Greene County, Alabama. Their children were Elizabeth, Martha, Letitia, Mary, Charlotte, Margaret, James and William Watson.

SAMUEL WATSON was born in 1802 in Ireland and died after 1860 in Greene County, Alabama. He married Margaret Doole on January 27, 1848 in Greene County, Alabama. Their children were George and James A. Watson. Samuel was a brother of Isabella who married Henry Caufield, Mary Ann who married Thomas Caufield, David who married Susan Caufield and James J. who married Eliza Ellis.

JAMES DUNN YOUNG was born on November 3, 1816 in Ireland. He married Miss Lankford and their children were Henry, Ben, John, Wilson, Julia, and Bell Young.

MARY JANE CAUFIELD YOUNG was born on October 18, 1825 in Greene County, Alabama, daughter of Thomas Caufield and Mary Ann Watson. She married William Ewing Young, son of John Young and Mary Dunn, on April 1, 1857 in Robertson County, Texas. Their children were Elizabeth Caufield, William Watson, Mary Ann, Catherine Cavitt, Josephine and William Thomas Young. Mary Jane died April 3, 1888 in Coryell County, Texas.

WILLIAM EWING YOUNG was born on April 1, 1827 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, son of John Young and Mary Dunn. He married Mary Jane Caufield, daughter of Thomas Caufield and Mary Ann Watson, on April 1, 1857 in Robertson County, Texas. He was a very close friend of Mary Jane's brother, Henry John Caufield.
