From Melbourne to Glasgow.

We left Melbourne December '95, hitched up the coast of Australia then flew to Italy. In Italy we climbed a volcano and went to a friend's 21st. In Turkey we visited a friend and stayed in a cave/hotel. In Bulgaria we saw the beautiful Rila Monastery shrouded in snow. In Romania we made friends witht the winners of a comedy festival. In Hungary we visited their world renowned special education facilities (Denise's profession). In Slovakia we hiked up waterfalls on rusty ladders. In the Czech Republic we went to Oscar Schindler's home town. In Poland we caught up with friends. In Berlin Denise headed off to England while Malcolm hitched around Germany with his Dad. In Belgium Malcolm caught up with a friend. In England we met all Denise's relatives. In Brazil we hiked among alligators (Denise's phobia). In French Guyana we watched a rocket launch. In Suriname we helped the black market money cheats cheat themselves. In Guyana we caught up with another friend and flew to the Kaiteur Falls. Back in Brazil we took a five day boat ride across the Amazon Basin sleeping in hammocks. In Bolivia we went from steamy, sea-level rainforests to the 5,600 metre alti plano. In Paraguay we saw the Iguazu Falls. In Uraguay for a day we visited a colonial town called Collonia. In Argentina we went to 'the end of the world (in Tierra del Fuego) for the end of the year. In Chile we weathered 5 metre swells in a 5.1 metre high boat as morning sickness kicked in for Denise. In Peru we 'found' the lost city of the Incas. In Ecuador Denise stayed in her room while Malcolm went to various indigenous markets. In Colombia Denise stayed in Ecuador while Malcolm went Salsa dancing in Cali. In the USA we bought a camper/ute in San Diego and drove it to Canada. In Canada we caught up with other travellers and climbed higher than Australia's highest in Banff. In England again we prepared to 'settle down'. In Scotland Malcolm found a job, Denise gave birth at home to Jacare, and we bought a flat.
