Handwriting Centers

 

To help your children practice writing each new letter sound they have learned, a handwriting center may be set up in an area of your room.  Here are some ideas for this center.

 

 

Materials you may want to provide at the centers:

 

*Pipe cleaners for forming letters

 

*Precut burlap squares, yarn, large plastic yarn needles to stitch  letters

 

*Small wooden block to build letters

 

*Clay to form letters

 

*Various sizes and assortment of chalk boards and erasers for practice

 

*A long jump rope to form letter shapes

 

*Tactile letter made from cardboard squares.  Form each letter shape with white glue.  When it dries it will make a raised formation to the touch.

 

*I cake tin filled with salt or cornmeal to print letters in
