Plate Penny or Quarter Supplies needed: Small paper plate, penny, brown crayons. Copy the words from a penny onto a small paper plate. Give each child a penny and let them draw and color their paper plate to match. RubbingsDo rubbing of both sides of the penny or quarter. Give each child 5 pennies. Let them stack, lay out in a line, make shapes, and count them. Cherry Counting1-Supplies

numerals. Have the children place the numerals in random order and place the correct amount of cherries next to the numerals. (can do with pennies or quarters, too) 2-Supplies

cupcake liners (bowl) Give the children each ten “cherries” and a “bowl” paper cup liner. Tell the children to put “1” cherry in their bowl. Then to put 2 more cherries in their bowl. (1+2). Now have them count their cherries. How many are there? (1+2=3) You can subtract also. Fingerprint Cherry BookSupplies needed: pre-made construction paper booklet, red stamp pad or red paint in a pie pan. Make a booklet out of construction paper (for front and back) and typing paper. Make enough pages to go to the number ten. Print the numbers 1-10, one on each page. Have the children place their thumbprint on each page representing the quantity of the number on that page. |
