ON THE LEFT: DALTON. ON THE RIGHT: KALEB

ON THE LEFT: NICHOLAS. ON THE RIGHT: TANNER

The kids have a pony named Katie. They had a goat named Godfry.
Read my story about Katie and Godfrey.

~Katie on the left, Godfry on the right!~

Katie was born in the spring of '97. The birth was difficult, and sadly, Katie's mother had to be put down. The vet wanted to put Katie down, too, but Bud's daughter, Joan, said No. Katie's chances of survival were dim, the vet said, but Joan was adamant. Katie would be given a chance to live!

Katie was given goat's milk, and was bottle-fed every hour for the next three weeks.

Goat's milk isn't readily available, Bud tells us. One doesn't just run to the supermarket and buy a bottle. Which leads us to the story of Godfry, a goat!

Now goats are God's creatures, Bud reminds us, and to keep the species going, they periodically have babies. Two baby goats are the norm, but God was kind to Godfry's parents and blessed them with four. No one knows why Godfry's mother rejected Godfry, but she did, so like Katie, Godfry was bottle-fed.

Bud's daughter kept Godfry in the yard, and it wasn't long before Godfry was adopted by five "puppy-less" dogs. Godfry ate, slept, and played with the dogs, so it came as no surprise to discover one day that Godfry thought HE was a dog!

Although Godfry is grown now, he's still shy around other goats, and prefers to hang around the dogs. Bud predicts that Godfry will live with the dogs for a very long time.
