Query: I have not found this name anywhere else. If anyone has any information on the name Houswaut, or any spelling variation I would appreciate it. I have wondered if this name changed to "House" or "Watt." Both of these names have many people doing research. Maybe one of them would know. German or Dutch speakers?? I need a translation.

Rachel and her husband Jacob Shaffer had an amazing and sometimes harrowing pioneer life (see Shaffer). She outlived her husband and although she is buried next to Jacob in the cemetery at Talmo, Republic, Kansas, she died in Nebraska. It is likely that she was staying with her son at the time of her death.
