This website is now Eleven Years Old! In August of 1995 the basic FEVR page was created. Bits and pieces have changed over the years but the basic information is still right here. ...and now back to your regularly scheduled webpage ;-P
The Fremont and Elkhorn Valley Railway is home to the Nebraska Railroad Museum. We are located at 1835 N Somers Avenue, Fremont, NE. We operate approximately 17 miles of ex- Chicago-Northwestern trackage between Fremont and Hooper, Nebraska. We operate an excursion train Saturday and Sunday afternoons between March and October going from Fremont to either Nickerson or Hooper. Winter charters are available, as well as, Santa Claus runs during the Holiday Season.
Run times are 1:30 pm to approximately 4:30 pm for the excursions. Trains begin boarding at 1:00pm. Tickets should be purchased in the Depot before you board.
Fremont Dinner Train customers should go directly to the platform, they will take your reservation letter there.

We run the excursions with vintage equipment. There are a limited number of air-conditioned excursion seats in restored Milwaukee Road day coaches for a slightly increased fare. We recommend that no open-toed or loose footwear be worn. Hands, arms, heads, and other extremities should be kept inside the windows of the coaches at all times! Trains run rain or shine.

The FEVR is a volunteer organisation! We are staffed by a corps of highly motivated, well-trained individuals who desire to make railroading and railroad history a part of our future as well as our past. The Equipment
The locomotive used in the runs is FEVR 1219, the "Glen Bales". 1219 is an EMD sw1200 diesel switcher built for the CNW in the fifties as number 319. It was purchased by the FEVR several years ago.
Baldwin #18 a 2-6-2 prairie is now on FEVR property! Check out the steam page for information. The resotoration of 18 is on a temporary hiatus while we work on other facets of the railroad.
GE 45ton siderod centercab #2 is also on property and in operating condition! Test runs have shown her to be in amazing shape for a 1942 vintage locomotive.
Also on the FEVR roster is Davenport 1481 , a 1950's era ex-army 44-ton center cab switching locomotive. This locomotive is a rare find and is sure to become a popular operating museum piece.
Also on the FEVR is a Whitcomb /Baldwin 50 ton end cab switcher. Only 5 locomotives like Dorothy were ever constructed. This unit is now on FEVR property and we have had her on some test runs!
The concession car is an ex-Chicago Burlington and Quincy RPO, or Railway Post Office Car. The FEVR obtained the car after it had spent many years in Maintainence of Way (MOW) service.
The Lake Bluff was built between 1910 and 1935. A little research showed it was originally configured as a 10-section, 1 drawing room, and 2 compartment sleeper. Several of the "Lake" series sleepers were used by the UP as bunk cars into the 60's. It is unknown if any of the other bunk cars survived.
The "1257" is thought to be the Fort Andrews. Research is still continuing on that score. We believe it to have originally been a 13 section tourist sleeper.
The Fremont Dinner Train
As part of our revenue stream; we host the Fremont Dinner Train.
The Dinner Train runs Friday and Saturday evenings and Sunday afternoons.
Run times are 7:30 pm to 10:30 pm Friday and Saturday evenings, 1:30 pm to 4:30 pm Sundays. Boarding 30 minutes before departure time.
Reservations MUST�be made for the Fremont Dinner Train with their booking office at 1-800-942-RAIL.
