I'm Not There

Please don’t stand at my grave and weep.
I’m not there, I do not sleep.

Though I am gone from you for a little while,
Think of where I am and try to smile.

When you look at the blue expanse above,
Know I’m with God, embraced in His love.

You may be holding back tears with all your might,
But the body’s just a shell, and the spirit takes flight.

Through Jesus Christ I was saved,
Now I am walking on streets, all gold paved.

I know this may be pure folly to you,
But I’m living proof that every word is true.

So please don’t stand at my grave and cry.
I am not there, I did not die.
