WELCOME

" If God brings you to it, He shall see you through it."

Hello. I am Greta, born in Ohio. I spend much time in Ontario, Canada, as well as Indiana and Ohio. My interests are family, friends, helping others, watching all sports, good conversation, music of all eras, computers, cooking, and company. I love my 7 daughters and any time we can spend together is a joyous time. And oh, how I enjoy my grandchildren. The time we spend together is very precious. One never knows how long we have together. Make the best of each moment.

(Picture taken Christmas 1992)

This is my late husband, Gary. He introduced our family to computers in 1978. He was into any and all electronics and a toolmaker. In 1985, he was hit by an automobile while returning home from work on his motorcycle. We spent the next 5 years bringing him back to daily life through the work of God, many surgeons and much physical therapy. Things seemed to be getting a lot better for all of us. He was able to function walking, and enjoying the family again. In August 1992, things started falling apart again. He was losing balance, falling down, dragging his right side, and becoming very unsteady overall. In September He was diagnosed with ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis--Lou Gehrig Disease). It is a degeneration of the Motor Nerves in the brain and the spinal cord, causing  a slow paralysis and wasting (Atrophy) of the muscles on both sides of the body. In 1994, he succumbed to the disease. God took him home and has the pleasure of his company now. God claimed another Angel. We miss him so very much. I can still hear his laughter and see his wonderful smile. His memories are everywhere and we always enjoy those memories. As time marches on, so do we carry on, with our lives.

A rare picture taken Thanksgiving weekend 2005. All 7 girls in the same place at same time and with Mom! Remarkable!

They are very active in the Indiana Bowling Association. They have been married 14 years. Also these two are avid BULLS fans, active in the Nascar races, and have been known to run a car in the "ParkingLot" class. (I finally learned the meaning of that.) They are the proud parents of Alexandria. She is pictured below enjoying an ice cream cone.

This is Marie and Joe. Joe has recently retired. Gina Marie has retired due to a bladder disease. They live in Indiana. They have no children so they spoil the nephews and two new nieces.

This is my special daughter, Ginger, 36 yrs old. Ginger attends a sheltered workshop for the handicapped. She was born Cerebral Palsy. (This is a brain-centered muscle paralysis). She was doing very well with therapy till her bout with Encephalitis at age 3 (contracted from mosquito bites during a camping trip). It left its toll on her.  She had cast-molding for her legs till the braces were put on. She went through four years of Private Alternative Physical Therapy(Patterned). In this therapy, we worked her limbs 7 days/6 hours per day. She was walking, with assistance at age 5. One doctor told me it would never happen. I was grasping at straws. Well, I gripped that straw and ran with it to keep her alive and going!

By age 8, she was enrolled into school of Special Education. She underwent major surgery of left leg and foot at age 10. Had to learn to walk again after surgery. Ginger graduated from  High School (Sp Ed) at age 21.  The motor skills have improved immensely, seizures dwindle to nil, then resurface as the years passed. Ginger is very family-oriented. She loves having her sisters and all families around her, and is learning to interact with other people in daily life.  The Speech is not great, but she gets her point across very well. She is a real joy and has taught all of us many things to appreciate in life. Patience being #1. Simple things we take for granted, are real milestones for her. She is very loving and giving and will always be mom's Sidekick.

Genna is # 7 in the line of girls. Genna was born Hearing Impaired. She heard the first distinctive sounds at age 5. Of all things, it was a semitractor/trailer rig passing as we walked outside the hospital. Scared that poor little girl beyond description. She grabbed those hearings aids and started to pitch them into the street. What an experience that was! She has had many years of speech. She is so good at lip-reading, many people are not aware of the hearing aids. The speech is now beautiful. Still learning the comprehension of some words, she has made great progress. Graduated June 13,1999, she attended a local Business College in the field of Office Machine and completed her courses in February, 2000. Since the birth of her daughter, Christiana, Genna has been very busy trying to make a life for the 2 of them. She holds down a full time job with the Hospital and tries to balance any and all free time with her daughter.

This is Christiana with her mother, Genna. Chrissi is a very active 4 year old. She attends pre-school in mornings and day care in afternoons so her mother, Genna, can do her Diet Clerk position at hospital.
