IRISH BLESSING

May the road rise up to meet you.
May the wind be always at your back,
the sun shine warm upon your face,
the rain fall soft upon your field,
and until we meet again, may God
hold you int he hollow of His hand.

St. Patrick's Day is celebrated on March 17th. It honors Saint Patrick who is the patron Saint of Ireland. It is also a celebration of Irish culture. There are usually parades, food, music and dancing. All in all, it is a fun day to celebrate.

AMERICAN CUSTOMS

Americans of Irish descent outnumber the Irish in Ireland.

Mass is attended in the morning of Saint Patrick's Day. There is an afternoon parade in larger cities. The first parade was in Boston in 1737.

People will celebrate in their homes, pubs or restaurants

Leprechaun and three leaf clover decorations are displayed.

Many (Irish or not) wear green to keep from getting pinched. Greeting cards and green decorations are sold in stores.

Green cupcates are made or sold in stores for St. Paddy's Day parties.

Mint milkshakes called Shamrock shakes are available at fast-food restaurants.

Did you really think you would get away with not seeing a kitty cat on my pages?????? Introducing "Erin" my St. Paddy's guardian kitty.

Before you go on to my next page, here is an Irish Angel gift I made for you. Take it if you want to.

Here is a little card for RAOK members to place in guestbooks.
