Ingredients
1 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup butter
2 Tablespoons light corn syrup
1 cup chopped pecan
4 green apples, peeled and thinly sliced
10 eggs
2 cups half and half
1 Tablespoon vanilla
4 cups French bread, cubed
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
Grease a 9 x 13 inch glass baking dish.
In a medium saucepan combine brown sugar, butter and corn syrup. Cook over medium heat
until thickened, stirring constantly.
Pour caramel mixture into baking dish. Then sprinkle with chopped pecan. Layer apple
slices over the pecans, covering entire dish. Sprinkle bread over apples.
Combine eggs, half and half and vanilla in blender. Pour egg mixture
over bread. Cover and refrigerate overnight. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Sprinkle with
cinnamon and nutmeg over dish and bake uncovered for 50 to 60 minutes until eggs are set
and bread is lightly browned. Serve hot with hot syrup, Canadian bacon and garnish with
whipped cream and cinnamon.
Serves: 8.
