California Genealogy
Below is a generation chart with my family genealogy. A family that begins it's California roots with a marriage between a Spanish Catalonian Volunteer and a young newly baptized Monterey Indian girl that took place on May 20, 1773 in the Mission San Carlos de Monterey, California. Generation #1 begins with the parents to this Spanish soldier and it is also as far back as I have.

Through the wonders of the internet, I have met up with many people who are descendants from this same couple. Through this group, and my other research, I have been able to add dozens of descendants to my charts. I stop at 5 generations on this website for now, but I hope to someday add pictures.

P.S. My line comes from generation #3, Nicolas Butron. How about you????

One last note...... because my family has grown, I haven't had the time to spend on updating this site over the past few years. But, I hope to spend more time in the near future to add/change things. This site was last updated 7-27-1998 for the material below. (3-22-06 - I'm still here!)

2. MANUEL BUTRON (JOSEF1) was born Abt. 1727 in Molins, Valencia, Spain. He married MARGARITA MARIA DOMINGUEZ on May 20, 1773 in Mission San Carlos de Monterey. Manuel died December 1792 in Monterey, California. He was buried January 05, 1793 at Mission San Carlos de Monterey. MARGARITA MARIA DOMINGUEZ was baptized January 07, 1773 at Mission San Carlos de Monterey (in dange of death, by Fr. Crespi). She was baptized a second time on February 22, 1773, with Juan Dominguez as her god-father, whose surname she assumed. Margarita was a native Indian and she was 15 years old when she was baptized. Margarita was buried on January 25, 1815, Mission San Carlos de Monterey.

He was baptized April 09, 1776 at Mission San Carlos de Monterey and his Godparents were Francisco Xavier Beltran with his wife Gertrudis Lugo. He died February 1842 in San Juan Bautista, California and was buried February 12, 1842 in San Juan Bautista. He married MARIA YGNACIA RITA HIGUERA on January 30, 1794 at Mission Santa Clara, daughter of JOSEF MANUEL HIGUERA and MARIA IGNACIA ANTONIA LIMON REDONDO. She was baptized on February 13, 1778 at Mission Santa Clara and is buried in San Juan Bautista Cemetery.
