Rock's biggest TV Moments on VH-1

"The Partridge Family" TV premiere on ABC in 1970 rated No. 38 on VH-1's list of the Top 100 Rock Moments on TV. PR Newswire listed it this way: "THE PARTRIDGE FAMILY premieres on ABC — David Cassidy immediately becomes a teen singing sensation." Item No. 39? Ricky Nelson singing "I'm Walkin' " on "The Ozzie and Harriet Show." David and the Partridges also outranked the Sonny and Cher reunion and Michael Jackson and Lisa Marie Presley discussing their married life on TV.

 "Headliners and Legends" on MSNBC

Matt Lauer's take on David Cassidy is one of the best, with new information not included in Vh-1's Behind the Music or other specials. Check MSNBC's schedule for repeats. You'll want to tape this one.

Hope you saw "The David Cassidy Story"

I think Emmy winner Andrew Kavovit ("As the World Turns") did a fine job portraying David. While it's not 100% the truth (what movie is?) it's enough to show what he went through as a teen idol and how he's bounced back. If you didn't see it, or if you did and you want a copy, you can get one from NBC at NBC video site .

Behind the Music: Partridge Family

Pretty good ... although Susan Dey's absence from EVERY SINGLE show about the PF is starting to make her look very unattractively bitter ... Not sure why they spent so much time with Danny, since what he did mostly happened AFTER the PF and wasn't at all behind any music. This has been airing fairly regularly on vh-1, usually on Teen Idols weeks, and it's often followed by "Where are They Now: Teen Idols" ... David is in that too. Keep an eye out. It's *also* followed by that AWFUL Partridge Family movie, Danny's ABC version. You know, the one where the kid playing Danny had his freckles painted on and the guy playing Keith had the worst hair ever? Shudder. But check VH-1 for reruns.

 David's autobiography available!
David's autobiography, "C'mon Get Happy," is available, from Time Warner Trade Publishing, but it's still not generally available at bookstores. It is available from amazon.com (search below or click on the book cover above).

David/PF CD available

DAVID CASSIDY & THE PARTRIDGE FAMILY: THE DEFINITIVE COLLECTION contains every one of the group's nine Billboard Hot 100 chart singles on the Bell Records label between 1970 ("I Think I Love You") and 1973 ("Friend And a Lover"), and all four of David Cassidy's top 40 solo hits during 1971-72 (including "Cherish" and "Rock Me Baby"), as well as seven rare LP tracks. It's available at amazon (link below) and cdnow (link at top). Or click on the album cover above. This replaces the Lunchbox greatest hits CD, now out of print.
