Gages Lake Community Guide
Community Overview
Gages Lake is an unincorporated community near Grayslake, about 54 miles northwest of downtown Chicago. Recreational opportunities include Grayslake's Park District programs, boating and fishing on the lakes and ponds in the area, skiing on nearby slopes, the facilities of the local forest preserves and parks, and Illinois Beach State Park and North Point Marina, both on Lake Michigan's shores. Grade school-aged children attend district 50 schools, while secondary students go to Grayslake High School, district 127. (See below for details on schools).
Transportation needs are served by area highways (I-94) a few miles east, and major local roads (U.S. 45, I 83, Belvidere Rd., Washington St..). Commuter service to downtown is provided by the Metra Milwaukee District North Line (MD-N). Travel time to the downtown Chicago station is about 60 minutes (express).
