Lincolnwood Community Guide
Community Overview
Lincolnwood is a town of about 12,000 11 miles north of downtown Chicago. Residential development includes a variety of housing styles, plus townhouses and condominiums. Commercial development includes the new Towne Centre, which contains 72 acres of retail and office space and features the Carson's and J.C. Penney stores. Light industrial development includes companies like Bell & Howell. Recreational opportunities include the programs and facilities of the Parks & Recreation Department. Grade school-aged children attend Lincolnwood grammar school, district 74, and secondary students go to Niles West High School, district 219, in Skokie. (See below for details on schools).
Transportation needs are served by area highways (I-94/Edens Expwy.), and major local roads (Crawford Ave., Touhy Ave.). Commuter service to downtown is provided by Metra at the Evanston station, and by the CTA Skokie Swift. Travel time to the downtown Chicago station is about 32 minutes on the CTA.
