North Chicago Community Guide

Community Overview

North Chicago is a town on Lake Michigan about midway between Waukegan and Lake Bluff. Schoolchildren attend unit district 187 schools (K-12th. grades), including North Chicago High School. The district also serves the children of servicemen and women at Great Lakes Naval Air Station. (See below for details on schools).

Transportation needs are served by area highways (I-94) a few miles west, and major local roads (Lewis Ave., I-137/Sheridan Rd., Buckley Ave.). Commuter service to downtown is provided by Metra.
