My 3-year old Quaker "Sweets" died today. We have not been able to determine what exactly he died from, but he got some sort of infection and didn't have enought white blood cells to fight it. It's the first time since he's been our baby (since he was 2 months old) that he spent the night at the vet. I wish he was home. I still haven't stopped crying. Right now we have him lying in state in our Florida room, a room he loved to play in. He was a great little helper. He made great squeaking sounds (li e a sponge wiping glass) that he used everytime he was in the kitchen with me. He also loved to help me hang the laundry and go on trips to the bank, library, pharmacy, corner store, and many other places and everybody adored him. Tomorrow we will bury im in our yard with our calico "Anisette" whom we buried there just this past October, two weeks after Sweets birthday. I just got over crying for Anisette and now I've lost Sweets. He used to go with me daily to visit Anisette's grave to leave flowers rom our garden. (I'm in Florida so we have flowers all year long.) He couldn't totally pronouce her name so he called her "Aiset". I miss him terribly. I've love having a Quaker so much we will get another one soon. We still have a 2-year old umbrell Cockatoo "Fancy" who's only been with us since early October. She didn't understand what happend to Anisette (she barely knew her) but we showed her Sweets' deceased body and she leaned over him and made kisses. In fact the first words she learned was I love you Sweets." She didn't come with many toys and was in a home where she was "decoration." Her first real toy was one of Sweets' toys and she has not forgotten that. Thank you so much for your site and just being here so that at 1 o'clock in the orning I have a way to express my sorry. I can't sleep, although I've tried just about everything so I figured I would visit with other Quakers. Your site brought a smile to my face and reinforced that we will get another Quaker. Good luck on your site. I'm sure I'll visit again.
