The Family Research Library of the Bartow County Genealogical Society will be closed on Wednesday's until fall. The Volunteer is helping to build his church, The Emerson Baptist Church and the board voted to close on that day. We will continue to be open Monday-Tuesday-Thursday-Friday 10:00am-3:30pm. And we are grateful for the Grant's that have been received to help us in purchasing new material.

mtucker@cybrtyme.com Michael Tucker I am researching the Freeman, Buford, and Henderson families of Bartow County. These families were in the Taylorsville area from c1850 to after 1920. I looked through several cemeteries around Taylorsville, but I have been unable to locate their grave sites. Are there any "lost"cemeteries in the area? Specific names include Peter Buford, John S. and Oscar Henderson, and George T. Freeman.

Hiram Duncan Drum Jean,I wrote to you about two years ago about my gggrandfather, Hiram Duncan Drum, who was born in Cass County October 5, 1836. I have continued to search for this person.....who eventurally ends up in Texas in 1860, but I cannot, and none of my other internet cousins seems to be able to find him. I was wondering if you could look once again to see if there is any record of this man. Susan Wuorinen wuorinen@acadia.net

JONES/MORRIS Crittal66@aol.com Since my last email to you I have discovered so much about the Jones/Morris family. I have found Col. Jones property at Puckett Rd and Bates Rd. The Col.'s house still stands beautiful and someone owns it that has a dog so I was afraid to go to the door. However I did meet a Ms. Virginia Jordan and her brother that lives on the Old Morris property. They talked to me about what they knew and remembered of the 2 families and their branches. She was a very kind person and she showed me in her Bartow Cty Book about the Col. and how he was one of the founders of Emerson. He was the first person to own a mineral mine in the state according to the book. I felt like I had been there before. But I have not.Her niece is selling a lot of the property for $25,000.00 per acre in 3 large tracts. That is not something I can afford. That made me sad. Now I realize that is a dream that my ancestors before me got to live and love. I guess it is for me to find someplace else to live out my dreams. Do you happen to know who lives in the big white two story house in the curve on Puckett Rd? If so do you think they might show the house sometime? Cristal Morris Nader (Crittal66@aol.com

I do not know if Alexander BROWN was a Chickamuga/Cherokee or a white. I have been told that he owned a grist mill which was located on Pumpkin Creek near the Etowah River in Cass County, GA.I have been given information that says a number of persons claimed that they had a right to the grist mills valuation.
