WOFFORD FAMILY- Karen writes In my search in Cartersville I did not find much info on my great grandmother, Cora Sarah Wofford,(Cary), youngest child of James Wofford and Altha McCracken. Family oral history says that she was disowned by her family, maybe because she married John Bradford, who was about 20 yrs younger than her. They were married in Bartow Co. in 1878. I find her in Floyd Co. in 1900. She was 58 and John 38. They had one son living at home, James Thomas 15 my grandfather. John must have left her for a younger woman. Cary died of a broken heart. The late Max Yancy, in one of his reports, states that Cary had first married a Rutledge. I can find no evidence of this, although it seems strange that she would have married for the first time when she was 36 yrs old and that she would have married a 16 year old boy.
