WONDERFUL WATERCOLOR CAKES
Ingredients:
1 Tbsp. clear vinegar
1 Tbsp. baking soda
1 Tbsp. cornstarch
1/2 tsp. corn syrup
food coloring
plastic lids (or refill those half used up watercolor set trays!)
Mix vinegar and soda in the lid (if you want to fill the store bought watercolor trays, mix in another lid first.) When the mixture stops fizzing (which kids think is really awesome), stir in cornstarch and corn syrup. A chopstick or popscicle stick works well to stir. Now, add a few drops of food coloring. This recipe makes enough to fill several compartments of a
water color tray and if you wish to do this, pour the mixture into the little sections BEFORE adding color. More drops=Brighter colors. Use immediately with paintbrush or Qtips or after colors have dried into cakes, swirl with a wet paintbrush to start painting.
