...and more thoughts
failures...
Many of
us grow up thinking of mistakes as bad, viewing
errors
as evidence of fundamental incapacity.
This negative
thinking pattern can create a
self-fulfilling
prophecy, which undermines the
learning
process. To maximize our learning
it is essential
to ask: "How can we get the most
from every
mistake we make?"
life speed....
Have you
ever watched kids on a merry-go-round, or listened to rain
slapping
the ground? Ever followed a butterfly's erratic flight, or
gazed at
the sun fading into the night? You better slow down, don't
dance so
fast, time is short, the music won't last.
Do you
run through each day on the fly, When you ask "How are you?", do
you hear
the reply? When the day is done, do you lie in your bed, with
the next
hundred chores running through your head? You better slow
down, don't
dance so fast, time is short, the music won't last.
Ever told
your child, we'll do it tomorrow, and in your haste not see
his sorrow?
Ever lost touch, let a good friendship die, 'cause you never
had time
to call and say "hi"? You better slow down, don't dance so
fast, time
is short, the music won't last.
When you
run so fast to get somewhere, you miss half the fun of getting
there.
When you worry and hurry through your day, it's like an unopened
gift thrown
away. Life is not a race, so take it slower, hear the music
before
the song is over.
Responsible
I am responsible.
Although I may not be able to prevent the
worst from
happening, I am responsible for my attitude
toward
the inevitable misfortunes that darken life. Bad
things
do happen; how I respond to them defines my
character
and the quality of my life.
I can choose
to sit in perpetual sadness, immobilized by the
gravity
of my loss, or I can choose to rise from the pain
and treasure
the most precious gift I have - life itself.
Happiness
Happiness
is a butterfly which, when pursued,
is always
beyond our grasp,
but, if
you will sit down quietly,
may alight
upon you.
-Nathaniel Hawthorne
Courage
The greatest test of courage on earth
is to bear defeat without losing heart.
-Robert G. Ingersoll
