|Seeking information on my GGGrandfather Henry VIETS (VIETZ) whose last known residence was in Lincoln Township in Holt County on the 1920 Missouri census, at age 73. |My grandmother, Hattie ISOM, was born 23 August 1890 in Holt County. Her parents were James ISOM, born in 1844, and Ollie ROLAND born in 1868. They were probably married sometime between 1884 and 1888. They had a son born before my grandmother. He died childless. Ollie died 26 July 1897. James died about seven years later. My grandmother married Alfred Elmer SNELL. They met either in Missouri or Iowa and were married either place. James ISOM had a sister who married a PEELER and they had a son named John. Charles CORNING, b. 1850's OH (riverboat captain) and Martha "Jane" (CAMBRIDGE) CORNING both died leaving three orphan daughters: Lizzie CORNING, Mandy CORNING and Letitia "Belle" CORNING, b. 1866/67 Iowa City, Johnson County, IA (my ggrandmother). They were all "farmed out" to separate families (possibly at church) and never reunited. Letitia Belle CORNING was living in Mound City, Holt Co., MO in 1884. |Annie K. STREET, b. 19 May 1876, and her younger brother were put into an orphanage in St. Joseph, MO when she was five. Her brother was Charles STREET; an older brother, George, b. abt 1876, did not go to the orphanage. Annie was adopted by Stephen T. and Nannie Caldwell LUCAS on 6 April 1888 in Forest City, Holt County, MO and her name was changed to Nannie S. LUCAS. |I am researching my great, great grandparents Franklin H. FREEMAN and Margaret NOLAND Freeman. They were married in Buchanan County in 1876. They were divorced in Holt County in 1891.
