"Obituary of Polly McMahan wife of Ebert McMahan, daughter of James and Malissie Burleson. Born January 1st 1879. Departed this life July 26th 1901 aged 23 years 6 mo 26 day. She professed Christ in her eleventh year, was a member of the Baptist Church and lived a devoted Christian life. Polly didn't talk of her future state as much as the other girls, but she said she was willing to die. Wanted all her friends to meet her in heaven requested her husband to raise her little children right so they would meet her on the other shore. She like Sammie and the other girls seemed to be specially interested in Garrett, because he hasent never professed Christ. She talked very earnest to her husband begging him to become a Christian in order that he may be better prepared to rear her two little girls for Christ. Polly like all the redeemed of Christ is this morning resting on the other shore withe the happy heavenly throng."
