Children: NOTE: Christopher settled in Baltimore County, MD before 1682. He took the land on the Patapsco River along with his brother-in-law Richard Cromwell. He became a man of great importance and held many offices in the state. On September 4, 1684, he was commissioned "Justice and Commission for Regulating Affairs civil for Baltimore County."

The will of Christopher Gist:
In the name of God -- the 17th day of February Anno Domo - 1690. I Christopher Guest of Baltemore County being weak in body but of good and perfect memory - thanks to G. and calling to membrance the uncertain estate of this transitory life and that all of us must yield unto death, when it shall please God to call -- do make constitute fordaine and declare this my last will and testament -- Therefore I give my dearly beloved wife full power to receive all debts owing unto her and likewise to pay all debts -- and being paid I give her full power to dispose of all my lans and goods -- and when disposed, the same to be equally divided between my beloved wife and child, she being my only exr. in this my last will. Item: I give unto John Robinson a 2 year old heifer. Item: I give my brother Richard Cromwell's child a 2 year old heifer. The Lord have mercy upon my soul. Amen! Item: I give unto my mother Guest the sum L5 stg. if she be alive. So I bid the world farewell! Signed sealed and delivered in the presence of John Brown, John Robinson, Richard Cromwell. Children: NOTE: Christopher explored Ohio and part of Kentucky for the Ohio Company in 1750, and was the guide and companion of Washington on his journey to Lake Erie in 1753. With his sons Nathaniel and Thomas, he took part, as guide and scout, in Braddock's expedition, and was present on the fatal field of battle, where that officers' troops were cut to pieces. On October 1, 1755, Christopher Gist was commissioned Lieutenant in the Virginia forces (Va. Mag., i. 285), and in 1756 he was captain of a company of scouts which he raised for service on the frontier. The same year he went to the Carolinas to enlist Cherokee Indians for the English service, and for a time he served as Indian Agent. He died in the summer of 1759 of smallpox, in South Carolina or Georgia. (From a book entitled "Maryland Genealogies".

He settled in Kentucky where he built his homestead "Canewood", and died early in the nineteenth century at an advanced age.
