Hi Ed, You and your wife have a couple of real nice web sites. Your wife must be a good student! I was given the gift of a new liver in December of 98 and just found out this March that I have Hep C I noticed from your site and others guest books that there are quite a few folks in their 40s who have hep C. I never put a needle in my arm, have no tats and my wife does not have it so it was not sex. I was however in the Army in 1969 & 70 and got my sh ts with an air gun as did thousands or millions of others. The military has given mass injections since 1945 and did not stop air gun use untill 1997. I believe a lot of people that blame their liver failure on sex, tats, drugs or drink may have also been vets who got shots from air guns.Again, you have great pages and keep up the good work and information! Thanks for the very candid approach to the Hep C. Like you, I have a serious cronic medical problem with Lyme disease (15 yrs). It has changed my life, but I refuse to let it become my life. I hope to live long enough, and be in good enough shape to benef t from the cure when they finally create one. Meanwhile, I enjoy some farming, old tractors (9 now), welding, and woodworking. I hope to learn some blacksmithing. What I have discovered is that we should have alot more respect for what the previous gener tions of farmers and craftsmen have done. There were some pretty great ideas and techniques developed to make the early engines, tractors, and farm machinery. Our forefathers made great milage along the road of progress, while during the last 20 years, we just seem to be adding more electronics and just fine tuning the engines and machines that invented earlier. We no longer have generations of kids growing up with "Erector sets", or even having any shop classes available in their schools. The generations f inventing is over, with today's kids being spectators (TV and sports) and players of video games. Hey folks, WAKE UP!, the USA is losing its "Yankee ingenuity". PS: I was a physics teacher for 32 years, now retired. God Bless your entire family, as you work through some mighty difficult health problems. (Do the antirejection drugs need to be taken for the rest of your life? Do those same drugs set you up for being highly suseptible to infection?) You'll be in our pr yers! My(now)10 month old son had a liver transplant on June 13,1998 for biliary atresia. He was on 15 medicines when we left the hospital and is currently on 6 medicines. Without the transplant, he was not expected to live after his first birthday. He is doing very well now. To learn more about Caleb, visit my page. Great homepage. My husband died suddenly May 1/97 of a brain anurysm..He was a strong healthy man, a rock..I never thought he'd die.But I was wrong. . We had discussed organ donations many times So I knew it was his wish to donate his organs. His liver, kidneys ,heart and corneas were donated I received a letter from the sister of the liver recipent. I really made us feel good to get that letter It touched us really deeply.I think there should be a little more contact between the donors families and the recipents..
