JONES

Stephen JONES. S38092, NC Line, b. August 19 1750 in St Marys Cty, MD. He lived in Granville and Surry Cos NC during the Rev War. He applied April 16 1834 Harlan Co Ky and had lived in Ky 40 years. Son Zachariah JONES was also of Harlan Co Ky in 1834. (Genealogy Abstracts of Revolutionary War - Pension Funds -Volume II, by Vigil D. White) I am looking for substance in my relation to Stephen JONES. I believe his father was Ambrose JONES of Granville Cty, but I am not certain as there are at least two Stephen JONES' that migrated to Virginia from North Carolina.

THOMPSON

My GG Grandfather, Lawrence THOMPSON, enlisted in the AM Revolution in Rowan Co, NC. He was born in Dunmore Co, VA in 1755. He served in the NC Line, S32554. He had a son, also Lawrence, born in NC in 1899. My GG Grandfather applied for his AM Rev pension in 1833 in Clay Co., IN and is buried there. Any information about Lawrence, would be greatly appreciated. Contact: Joyce Thompson Isaacs joyce@inetport.com Posted: February 22, 1998 -------------------------------------------------------

WILLIAMS

I am searching for the ARW record of John WILLIAMS, who was born c 1750-55. A letter from a descendant states he served seven years. He was born, this letter states in Amherst County, Virginia. When his service was concluded he married Mary BURTON, daughter of Robert "Allen" and Judith Allen BURTON, on the 25th of February, 1783 in Granville County, North Carolina. Their first three children were born there; Susannah, Mary "Polly", and John. Any assistance would be most appreciated.

WILLIAMS

John WILLIAMS, b. NC and died 1775 in NC. He was supposedly hung by the Tories and left a wife & 2 children. James WILLIAMS, b. 1757 or 1751-80 in NC and married to Mary YOUNG in NC. James also was supposed to have moved to St. Augustine, FL and I did find a listing for James WILLIAMS on 1830 FL Census in St. Johns Co, Matajras River. I am not sure this is the same one or not.

WILLIAMS

My grandfather, William Graymom (Bill Dad) WILLIAMS was born October 23rd. 1860 and died August 20th 1962. Grandad told me that he was the grandson of the famous North Carolina Revolutionary War Officer, Captain Daniel WILLIAMS of the 6th Regiment, North Carolina Center Line who served on the staff of General George WASHINGTON. Grandad was born near old Averasboro Community and could recall vividly the battle of Averasbora as it was close to his home.

James CLAYTON, Sr. died ca 1760. Many other grants were made by James CLAYTON, Jr.
N.C.Hist.Rev. Vol 47 (1970) p 52 footnote gives Hyde County Deed Book B,
571 (1775) in which James CLAYTON, Craven County, blacksmith, transferred
to John JONES, of the same county, 80 acres on the N side of Aromuskeet
Lake. For additional land deals of John JONES in Hyde County see pages
607,782,792,800, 804,891. This suggests that the 1774 deed to BLACKLEDGE,
JONES, SPENCER, and NEALE was his first venture into Hyde, JONES had at
least two deals with CLAYTON and very likely took his place as the primary
owner of the lakeshore.

This database is a listing of men who applied for a pension but were rejected. It was originally published in 1852 and was an expanded version of a book published in 1838. Each record provides the applicant's name, state and town of residence, and the reason their petition was denied. It contains the names of over 8600 individuals. For researchers of Revolutionary War ancestors, this can be a helpful database. Extended Description: =========== Bibliography: Rejected or Suspended Applications for Revolutionary War Pensions.
