~My Soul Mate~
And a Little Devotional for Couples
~
~
~
I have been so blessed in my life.
God has given me the most wonderful
man in the world...my "soul mate".
~
You have heard it said, "never judge a book by it's cover".
Well this is true with my husband, Alan.
He is the most gentle, loving man a woman would ever ask for.
He is like a big "Teddy Bear" and he cries at ALL
"Hallmark" commercials :)
~
He has stood beside me though more than 10 years
of chronic illness and piles of doctor's bills
~
He is my Best Friend

"....,each man should have his own wife and each woman her own husband. The husband should fulfill his marital duty to his wife, and likewise the wife to the husband."
I Corinthians 7:2-3
"Wives submit to your husbands as to the Lord. For the husband is the head of the wife as Christ is the head of the church, His body, of which he is the saviour." Ephesians 5:22-23
"Let love & faithfulness never leave you; bind them around your neck, write them on the tablet of your heart. Then you will win favor and a good name in the sight of God and man."
Proverbs 3:3-4
"I am my beloved's and my beloved is mine."
Song of Solomon 6:3

I could go on and on telling you all the little things that
Alan has done over the years for me...like taking care of
me into the wee hours of the morning and then heading off
for 12-14 hours on the job. But that is not my main objective
for this page. I want to express how important it is to have a
marriage based on Jesus Christ
~
"Unless the Lord builds the house,
it's builders labor in vain"
Psalms 127:1
~
In the best of circumstances there will still
be stress on a marriage. But if we can look to
the Lord for guidance through prayer and
studying His Word together as a couple
He will NOT let us "fall".
~
"Cast your cares on the Lord and He
will sustain you; He will never let the
righteous fall" Psalms 55:22
~
Proverbs 3: 5-6 says,
"Trust in the Lord with ALL your heart and
lean not on your own understanding;
in all your ways acknowledge Him,
and He will make your paths straight"
What are some Idea's I have to share
for building your marriage on Jesus Christ?

"Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a workman who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth. II Timothy 2:15
~
*Read God's Word Daily (II Tim.3:16-17)
You need your own private devotional time with the Lord
but it's also good to read it together.
Alan and I have been reading to each other at bedtime.
~
*Pray Without Ceasing (I Thess. 5:16-18)
This also is important to do alone and together
We also pray at the dinner table, taking turns with the
children so that they too become accustomed to praying aloud
~
*Pray Daily for your spouse
Ask God's protection over him/her
Pray for their specific needs
and for wisdom and guidance in
making the decisions that they
must face each day
~
*Become a part of a Local Bible Teaching Church
It is important to have regular fellowship with
other believers and to be "spiritually fed" from
God's Word.
~
*Don't expect Perfection
Remember he/she is human and they also have
needs, feelings, opinions and desires
And don't expect perfection from yourself
~
*Even after the babies begin to arrive
always make time for eachother!
Stick to a bedtime ritual for the kids, even
when they are young. This allows some very
important time for Mom and Dad to be alone together.
You will be better parents for making your
relationship with eachother a priority.
Never forget the love that brought you together!
~
*Remember-Building a Christian Marriage
does not promise a trouble free Life
~John 16:33~
"I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace.
In this world you will have trouble.
But take heart! I have overcome the word."
*
In spite of all the inevitable struggles that we are
sure to face within our marriages and lives,
We are NOT alone!
Jesus does not abandon us to our struggles.
We have to remember that the Ultimate Victory
has already been won, so we may claim
Great Peace even in the most difficult of circumstances.
Thanks for letting me share what the Lord
has placed on my heart to share with you.
My marriage has been my Greatest Blessing
aside from our Children.
~
I hope that your's is too.
