Verona Man Stricken at Home, Dies

VERONA -- LeRoy John Armstrong, 52, of 5161 Brown Road, Verona, a 32 year employe of General Cable Corp. died today in Rome Hospital after being stricken at home.

Born April 6, 1919, in Rome, he was the son of John and Nita Jones Armstrong. He was educated in Richfield Springs and resided there for 17 years. On Oct. 19, 1946, he married Eleanor Muller in Rome.

Mr. Armstrong served in the Army during World War II stationed in the Pacific Theater for three years.

He was a member of the Baron Steuben Lodge F&AM, Lee Center and the Verona Mills Greenway Fish and Game Club.

Surviving besides his wife are two daughters, Mrs. Bradley P. [Donna M.} Zacek, Rome, and Mrs. Erwin J. [Elizabeth J.] Pawlicki, Amherst; a son, Gary LeRoy Armstrong, at home; two sisters, Mrs. Walter [Zilphia] Kaiser, Port Leyden, and Mrs. Bradford [Winifred] Piersall, Oswego; two brothers, Clinton Armstrong, Oneida, and Norris Armstrong, Camden and two grandchildren, Shawna and Bradly Zacek Jr.

Funeral services will be at 1 Friday at the Martin J. Nunn Funeral Home with the Rev. Thomas M. Riley pastor of Our Lady of Good Council Church, Verona, officiating.

Calling hours are from 7 to 9 tonight and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 Thursday.
