As you look back to your wedding day I'm sure you recall saying words such as "for richer or poorer, for better or worse, in sickness and in health, 'till death do us part."
What is the meaning behind these words? Were they just meaningless words spoken in haste with thoughts being only of the "honeymoon?" Were these not words spoken before God as you stood there with your mate to pledge your love to each other, not "'till divorce do us part", not "'till adultery us part", not "'till I lose interest in you, do us part", not "'till I find someone else, do us part" but 'till DEATH do us part!
In Malachi 2:14 God confirms this covenant of Marriage, "... because the Lord was witness to the Covenant made at your marriage..." Covenant is not like a Contract, a contract contains loopholes and can be broken fairly easy, but a covenant can only be broken by death. And God can not honor a new covenant while an old covenant is still in effect. In Malachi 2:16 we read that God HATES divorce! Now why would we want to do something that God hates??
Well sometimes, we feel as if we don't have an option. Our spouse wants OUT, says "I dont Love you anymore!!" "I am NEVER coming home!" "Get on with your life" Well.... first of all, your mate is DECEIVED by Satan. You must recognize the enemy in this situation is NOT your spouse, but SATAN!
In Ephesians 6:12 (NKJV) "For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against PRINCIPALITIES, against POWERS, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. (meaning.... our spouse is not the enemy, its SATAN, his demons, powers, tricks, lies and deceptions!)
But there is an option!! It's commonly refered to as "Standing." Standing on God's promises, trusting in God to use his power to restore and reconcile the Marriage relationship focusing on God and his will for our lives. No one ever said Standing was easy. It's very emotional and you must die to self, in order to live with Christ. There must be 100% commitment to God on your part, regardless of how your mate is living. Upon your total surrender, God will transform your life to reflect him, and then in turn begin tearing down that mountain that Satan has put between you and your mate. Over a process of time, not only will you be a strong warrior in God's kingdom, but God will bring to pass the reconciliation of your marriage. Once you start on the journey of Standing, you can not give up. Get involved in a Standers Group, and join others in praying for their marriage. Be encouraged to know that you are not alone in your stand for restoration.
God is on your side, and if God be for you... WHO can be against you? In Psalms 89:33-34 We see that God is a Covenant Keeping God. "Nonetheless my loving-kindness will I not utterly take from him, nor suffer my faithfulness to fail. MY COVENANT will I NOT BREAK nor alter the thing that has gone out of my lips."
God WILL Restore
(Joel 2:25 I will restore to you the years the locust.. have eaten)
He will be your husband
(Is. 54:5 Thy Maker Is Thy Husband)
He will be your Savior
(Is. 60:16 You shall know that I, the Lord, am your Savior...)
He will be your Healer
(Ps. 147:3 He healeth the broken hearted and bindeth up their wounds)
He will be your Deliver
(Ps 34:17 The righteous cry & the Lord heareth & delivereth him out of all of their troubles)
He will be your EVERYTHING!
IS ANYTHING TOO HARD FOR THE LORD ? Gen. 18:14
Heavenly Father, I pray that you would give my friend reading this, a revelation of your Covenant. Quicken their heart to know that if they choose to make the decision to stand for the healing of their marriage that you will be with them every step of the way, you will shape and mold them to be a great warrior in your kingdom, and they will never regret the stand that they took, because you will honor them with the desires of their heart. Let them know that if they seek first your kingdom that you will add ALL things unto them. Assure them Lord that you have all things under control and that you will work ALL THINGS to their GOOD, because you love them, and you have called them to be witnesses for you. Thank you Lord for wrapping your arm around my friend and pointing them to the way of truth, for we know the TRUTH will set us FREE in Jesus Name!
