Is
Impossible! Testimony of
Caryn
Many times I've tried to sit down and
write this testimony. There are so many changes, lessons, and circumstances that occurred
during this trial that Id never be able to get them in this short space. The bottom
line is: Nothing is impossible for God! If you believe in His word, apply His teachings to
your life, live by the faith that you know is true, and trust Him to take care of you and your circumstances, you can rest assured you have already won the victory! God has been
faithful to His promises to me, and He is waiting to do the same for you.
In November of 1992, my husband came to me and told me he was unhappy in the marriage. He
was tired of my verbal abuse and attacks, and was withdrawing from our marriage. He stayed
in the home for the sake of the children, but any emotional or physical relationship
wed had was severed. The marriage was considered dead.
It was at this time I sought the Lord the only source of hope I knew I had. I began
by reading everything I could about marriage and the art of being a godly wife. Little
changes were made, but I had no solid foundation and often fell back into old patterns.
The more I sought the Lord, the farther my husband would withdraw.
In August of 1996, my husband moved out and confessed to an affair. Alcohol had become a
big part of my life throughout our 15-year marriage, and the months between August and
December were spent in a drunken stupor. Only the Lord carried my kids and I through that
time in our lives.
By January, 1997 I was ready to make some major changes in my life and in myself. I quit
drinking and immersed myself in the Bible learning about Jesus and applying His
teachings to my life. Some days I spent as many as 6-10 hours studying the Word.
A relationship with the Lord was established and I started changing in ways that were only
attributed to the strength and guidance that He provided.
During the year of 1997, my husband and I had a minimum of seven conversations about
divorce. Neither one of us could seem to cross that line although we both were tired of
our circumstances. I knew the Lord hated divorce (Mal. 2:16), and if He hated divorce, and
nothing was impossible for Him (Matt. 19:26), He could change my marriage situation should
it be His will. Many times I would ask him to change my heart towards my husband, but I
remained in love with him and he remained in my visions of the future.
Each time I felt I could go on no longer, God would always provide me with a Bible verse
or words from a trusted friend to keep me going. Persevering through the hurt, and
providing another burst of strength to continue to battle. The year was one of the
hardest, most painful, yet most rewarding years Ive ever gone through.
In January of 1998 I started noticing changes in my husband. He was spending more time
with the family and seemed more relaxed and at peace that Id ever seen him before.
In April he returned home. Only God.!
My husband is not a believer, but God is faithful. A broken marriage does not take two to
mend. It is possible for one person on Gods team to see Gods victories. FAITH
WORKS!!
Begin by seeking God and letting Him change you. There is nothing you can do to change
another person. The more you try, the farther away they will go. Let God do the work in
your spouse. Hes much better equipped.
This is just the summary. The journey itself was much more involved. So many things
happened so many miracles witnessed, so many prayers answered. Please feel free to
