North Cherokee Valley HO Scale Model Railroad Club

North Cherokee Club History

By Michael G. Ellis: Charter Member

The history of the club started back in 1990 in a back room at a barber shop call "The Hair Depot" in downtown Bullard, Texas. The "Depot" is owned by Donald and Lana Reagan of Jacksonville. If you didn't know, Donald is one of the charter member of the NCVMRC.

I meet Donald by his wife because she was my barber. He was looking for someone in the area that was interested in model trains like he was. I have just gotten back into the hobby after my high school years in Bullard and I was looking for a place to run my trains. I was also at the same time creating a regional model railroad to run on a layout. The "Teague, Mexia, Rock Island & Gulf Railroad" was one of my projects.

Tracy Reagan (Donald's brother) join us at the time we started our groundbreaking work. Tracy has been interested in railroading since he was a kid in Jacksonville. The layout wasn't much, but it got us off the ground.
