I am Diane Seeber Sewell. My brother is Bruce Adolph Seeber. Our father was Adolph Ernst Seeber, Jr.(1922-1979) We were all born in New Orleans, Louisiana. My grandfathter was Adolph Ernst Seeber, Sr.(1893-1961--birth place unknown to me). My greatgrandfather was Louis (Ludwig) Seeber. On his cemetry marker it says: Aus St Martin, Rhein P'alz, Gen den 31 Dez 1847 Gest den 12 Sept. 1874.

To my understanding (no actual data) Ludwig Seeber married Wilhelmina Schmiderer (birth place unknown). Ludwig had a sister named Agnes.

So now you see how far here I can go...Must go to Germany for the rest of the story.

My father had one brother Paul Louis Seeber also born in New Orleans, Louisiana. Paul has 2 sons.

My grandfather had to my knowledge 3 brothers William Valentine Seeber (1880-1954), Gustave Anthony Seeber(1882-1943),and Frank Seeber(1883-1896) and 1 sister Wilhelmina Agnes Louise Seeber Mayer (1878-1924).

Wilhelmina Schmiderer had 1 sister and a half sister (names unknown to me). Wilhelmina's father was burgomaster of Baden-Baden. She wanted to become a nun, so her disapproving father sent her to the USA (dates unknown).

I do know where the village of St. Martin is located in Germany, but where is Baden-Baden??

My mother remembers Adolph Sr. saying his family was from Alsace Lorraine Area??? Then again he could have been referring to in-laws???

So now my mystery begins.......I anticipate a fun and intruging journey through time and files trying to find out why and how my branch of the Seebers got here..
