Psychological Effects of Adoption
Through out this part of the site you will see various publications supporting facts that keeping records closed to searching adoptees can and does have a long lasting effect on our psychological, emotional, and mental state of well being.
I hope that others who read this site will use some of the information to assist them in their fight for open records. I personally find some comfort in knowing the feelings I have and continue to suffer with are not simply make believe. They are not signs that I am going insane or that I am creating a crisis that is better left alone.
Nothing bothers me more then non-adopted triad people telling me that I should let it go, that what is done is done. I hate being told I cannot have contact with MY sister until they tell me it is ok. Why is it that other countries allow open records however our Country, The United States of America cannot find it within their hearts or minds to stop playing God with our lives.
With the help of Karen, a fellow adoptee from Canada, we will seek out as many supporting articles and research needed to show everyone it is in our best interest to be given back our roots! It is our RiGHT!
Please feel free to use any article shown to support your efforts for open records in the state of your adoption!
Also watch for a link "Open Adoption Records Petition" We hope with enough signatures that President Bush will pass a bill allowing all records Nation wide to be opened. Now I have heard that when he was Governor of TX he stated he would veto any bills for open records that passed by his desk. Had I know this in Nov. I would NEVER have voted for him! I thought with the family man attitude he presented he of all people would understand family values and respect our rights to OUR past! I may have been wrong, but I do know that each of us vote for our congressmen/women to be our voices. President Bush cannot ignore them! Join Karen and I as we fight for our rights! Please sign the petition even if you are not in the adoption Triad. Its time the government runs the Country not our lives.
