I'm looking for information about Philip Ginter who died in 1825, probably in Muncy Creek Twp. His will was adminstered in Lycoming County. His son, Philip Ginter, died in 1850 in Muncy and his will was administered in Lycoming County. His sons included G orge P. Ginter(my great-great) who lived in Hughesville, and David Ginter, who was a free-lance Civil War photographer and settled in Muncy. David's son was Harry Ginter. I suspect the Philip Ginters are somehow related to the Philip Ginter who came to Philadelphia aboard the ship Neptune in 1746 and is credited with discovering coal in Maunk Chunk, Carbon County, in 1792.

In my roots research I was given an old newspaper obituary notice for one of my ancestors named M.Oliver FISHER. It lists him as being born on Aug. 14, 1866. There is no publication date on the article but "Williamsport Mar. 15" is handwritten on the fron . It mentions he was born to Michael and Sara Hoot Fisher. Fascinating reading. Does anyone have this piece of the Fisher lineag as their own? I calculated death occured in the 1940's but I'm not certain. Thanks, Larry Fisher

Have been searching for the origins of Joseph EVES b. March 1818--d. Dec. 1903, husband of Hannah M. DOWNING 1829--1886, father of John P. EVES 1854-1932(m. Ellen BIDDLE 1850--1937). These people lived and died in Centre County, but Joseph EVES came from outside the county originally. They were Quakers, members of the Meeting at Centennial, and are buried near there in the Quaker Cemetery still maintained by that Meeting (now the Sate College Meeting). An older relative has recalled that some of the mem ership might have had associations with the Muncy Meeting early on. If anyone can shed some light on this for me, or help lead me to the origins of Joseph EVES (or Hannah DOWNING, Ellen BIDDLE), please let me know, thanks!

I'm searching for any information on William McCLURE who possibly married Mary ASHBRIDGE in c1786 and they had only one son James McCLURE b:c1788. William owned and farmed land on the north shore of the Susquehanna River 1 1/2 miles west of the month of P ne Creek (Jersey Shores).I read that William made improvements to his land in 1772 and left for a short while due to the "Big Runaway" and returned and sold his land to his brother James McCLURE in 1785. William either left the county or died. Next to the McClure farm lived the ASHBRIDGE'S who farmed 305 acres that was owned by Jonathan and Sarah (JAMES) ASHBRIDGE. Jonathan died in 1782 in the war and Sarah sold the farm in 1790 to Dr. DAVIDSON. Sarah and her family emmigrated to York (Toronto),Upper Canad and arrived in 1793. Mary (ASHBRIDGE) McCLURE and her young son James McCLURE also emmigrated without a husband/father. I think that their might be a connection here due to the time frame and location, maybe a child out of wedlock. Any info. would be dee ly appreciated.

I'm looking for any info on HENRY STEVENSON b. abt 1800 married to HANNAH SONES b. 1806. Census records show that Henry immigrated from Ireland and d. Sept 1854, buried in Pleasant Hill Cemetary in Hughesville, PA, Lycoming Co. He and Hannah had 11 childr n, one of whom was my gr grandfather SULLIVAN CROUSE STEVENSON b. Sep. 8, 1851 in Hughesville. He married MARY HUGHES March 17, 1870 in Lycoming Co. I don't know anything abt her. The family migrated to Cherokee Co., Iowa in 1887 where Sullivan became a 3 term Mayor and had 3 sons, Alvin, Russell, and George, one of whom,GEORGE MONROE STEVENSON b. Feb 28, 1881 was my grandfather. Any info appreciated.

I am trying to find more information regarding my KANE ancestors that lived in Williamsport, Lycoming, PA from 1870-mid 1900's. Specifically, I am trying to confirm that Michael KANE's parents are Terrence and Honorah KANE and I am trying to find Michael's wife's parents. Her name is Catharine GALLAGHER. What we do know is: all of the above named were born in Ireland. Terrence and Honorah in about 1825, Michael in about 1854 and Catharine in about 1850. They first show up in Williamsport, Lycoming, PA in 1870 census, so they probably immigrated between 1860 and 1870. In the 1900 census, Michael says he immigrated 30 years prior which would have made it 1870. Probably came with Terrence's probably brothers Peter b. 1830 and James 1840. James had some young children that I think were born in Ireland per the 1870 census, so I think they all immigrated in the very late 1860's or even before the census in 1870. Honorah died in 1899; her obituary mentions that Terrence had already died, she was survived by son Michael and one daughter Mrs. Charles Walp. We got back a response from Wildwood cemetery with no information on them. I will continue to pursue the cemetery route. My sister has written for various vital records with no success; I'm following up with her to see exactly what has and has not been requested. Michael and Catharine were married in 1869 or 1868 ; Michael died sometime after 1900; Catharine died during childbirth in 1881. One of Michael and Catharine's children is Michael A. Kane who is buried in Wildwood Cemetery. Michael remarried after Catharine's death to a lady named Mary (Kinney - we think).
