Obituary of Walter Taylor Foster



Operator of Solway Furniture Store


Walter Taylor Foster, 71, 9207 Happy La., Burchfield Heights, died of a stroke in the Oak Ridge hospital, Monday at 1:50 p.m.

He had been in poor health for several years, and died 20 minutes after being admitted to the hosptial.

Mr. Foster started Foster's Furniture Store in Solway Community in 1950, and later was affiliated with Foster and Blazer, Solway, as a partner with his son-in-law, John P Blazer. He was active in this furniture business until recently.

Mr Foster is survived by his wife, Mrs. Ruby Wood Foster; three sons, Leon O Foster, 50 New York Ave.; Ralph W Foster, Clinton; Travis Foster, Lafayette, Ga.; four daughters, Mrs John P Blazer, 9221 Oak Ridge Highway, Solway; Mrs. Boyd Dishman and Mrs James F Stair, both of Clinton; Mrs Clifford Overton, Rt 1, Clinton; three brothers, Adam Foster, Hiawassee, Ga.; Sam M Foster, Clarksville, Ga.; Frank Foster, Clayton, Ga.; one sister, Mrs Ora Denton, Hiawassee, Ga.; 21 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be held Wednesday at 2:30 pm at the North Clinton Baptist Church with the Rev. R L Lovette officiating. The body will lie in state at the church one hour before services.

Burial will be in the Tennessee Valley Memory Gardens.

The family will receive friends at Martin Funeral Home here tonight from 7 to 9.
