    "Kimi Saves the World!"

    Cool, I'm a Celebrity!

Today I witnessed my little miracle puppy practicing her world-saving techniques again. I know you would be glad to know that she is still out there in full force....doing her best to save us all from the secret evils in this world that we can't see.

Today she has discovered that dandelions aren't what we have thought them to be all this time. So began her top secret, covert operation:

Code name: Dandelion Mission: to rid the planet of these secret spy satellites and mini-spy cameras.

Kimi was walking thru the yard when she spotted the first one. Now....to the casual observer it looked like a plain ordinary dandelion. Nothing to be frightened of I was sure. I must have been wrong. Once Kimi spotted it, her eyes never left this little yellow disk shaped 'thing'. As stealthily as any proud Navy Seal could do, Kimi crept up on it, quietly watching it for any signs of life or danger. Slowly she circled this thing, carefully examining it from all sides....trying to decide if it were friend or foe. It must have been foe, for the next thing I knew Kimi had raised up on her back legs, lunged forward on them and POUNCED! this yellow headed object with all her puppy-might. She grabbed it in her tiny needle sharp teeth and began to shred it expertly. Plainly she saw something dangerous to her family, in what I always assumed was an ordinary troublesome weed. But she had set out to seek and destroy...and like all good 'watch-puppies' defending their families (thereby the world) she WOULD complete her mission! While commencing to shred, she was growling fiercly, and even though she is tiny and you have to listen hard to hear her fierceness, it was there! Kill it she would! Kimi tore, she nipped, she shredded, she ripped, and at last there was a yellow flower head(AKA: satelite spy dish) no more. It had gone to that little flower garden in the sky. She had destroyed the evil do-er once again!

Once she had completed the first stage in her mission (come on....you didn't think it was over already did you?) her head litfed and those sharp intelligent eyes of hers began scanning the yard for more. AAAAhhhA! One has been spotted. With a loud sharp "YIP"! she tore off across the grass after her next victim! Repeating the same steps, only this time more bravely....as she already knows they don't put up much of a fight, she destroyed this one in record time! Kimi then bravely patroled the rest of her domain in search of all other foreign threats to her family. Then she spotted it! A new threat..this time in the guise of a dandelion head gone to seed! Kimi wasted no time with creeping up on this one...she rushed it..she jumped...up..up..high into the air ...(ok...maybe she got about 3 inches if air, but to her that is 1/3 of her height....can YOU jump that high into the air un-assisted?) and as her furious little self came back down she was growling again. Then she hit....with a mighty POUNCE! Kimi was on top of this enemy. She employed the ripping and tearing technique....but wait! Something isn't right here! This one is sticking to her tongue.... to her mouth...Have you ever seen a Sheltie puppy trying to spit before? The fluffy white 'cotton' on top of the seeds were sticking to her wet tongue....no matter how she shook her head or rolled her tongue...she couldn't 'shake' them loose! So Kimi tried 'spitting' them out, she even tried wiping her tongue off on the grass. Once she got them out of her mouth and realized they weren't hurting her, she turned her fury to the next one and POUNCED it with the same determination. I am now proud to say my yard is dandelion free! And to think, I didn't have to use a single chemical to do it! Good girl Kimi! She has rid my yard not only of the dandelions, but she has single-pawedly wiped out a whole host of spy "satellites' and floating "cameras"! My yard and my domain is once again safe from the evils of this planet and my heroine Kimi can rest safely.

Oh no....it doesn't look like Kimi is ready to rest yet. I think she has just spotted another 'danger' to this family. Oh Kimi.....no! It's just a puff of Newfoundland dog hair...

"No it isn't mommy....it's an evil, vicious hair bunny and I am going to kill it!!!!!" And with this she POUNCED her next 'victim' !! I tried to tell her I had just finished shaving off one of her buddies...Katy (the newfoundland), but she wouldn't listen. She had already set her mind to seek and destroy this newest evil and nothing was going to alter the course her determinaion had set forth for her to follow. Seeing as there were many, many of these "hair bunnies" running around this way and that she quickly decided not to go with the stealth approach. Nope.....not this time. There were simply to many of these things in her yard to waste time begin sneaky about it. The best she could hope for was to try the 'hit and run' tactic. As fast as Kimi's little legs could carry her she ran around and around the yard grabbing at each puff of fur on her way past and growling fiercely at all who dared to get in her way. As she ran on to the next "bunny", she was busily ripping the last to shreds. Which couldn't have been to hard to do as they were made of all hair and no flesh or bones. Not that that would have slowed her down any. The only thing that slowed her down was the tennis ball she didn't see in her haste to reach the next one! Her front feet connected with that ball and over her furry little body went....tail over appetite! Kimi quickly jumped to her feet again, whirled around, nipped at the ball and raced off to find another "hair bunny' to destroy. And all the while her pink tongue was hanging from the big smile of joy on her face. Kimi does seem to enjoy her work as the self-appointed rescuer of our family.

One puff of hair seemed to be much bigger than the rest so instead of racing off with this one in her mouth she stayed over the top of it, holding it down with her front feet (so it couldn't get away you understand) and tore it into many smaller pieces, quickly whittling it down to size. And of course she wasn't thinking about the added pieces mommy was going to have to clean up yet...protecting her family is Kimi's job, mommies job is in cleaning up the mess! One time while shredding this chunk of 'bunny' she looked up at me and 'yipped'; as if to say "See what a good job I am doing mommy?" and I had to laugh. I'm sorry Kimi....I know you don't like to be laughed at, but have you ever seen yourself with a black beard'? Here was this thick chunk of black newfy hair hanging down from her chin.....and Kimi with a totally serious look on her face that the chunk of hair ruined for her. Kimi....who could ever take you seriously looking like that?

Once she finished shredding this last enemy, Kimi looked around the yard one last time, let out a final "YIP" and turned tail to locate some shade. She found some in the shadows of her big friend Brigs and laid down in the cool grass near him. Her little head slowly lowered to her paws....her eyes closed one by one, and as quickly as she had awakened earlier, our little Kimi was fast alseep. No doubt dreaming of the 'kills' she just made, or of ones yet to be made. And all in the name of protecting her family and friends. Aren't we the lucky ones?

Kristi (proud to be her mommy!)
Kimi (My aim is to rid the world of all it's evils....)
