I made this wall hanging this past summer,'98, to be auctioned off at a family reunion. I made two, and this one is the second one...there were two surviving family members present that were on the picture, taken 53 years ago. My grandmother was the oldest of 13 children, they raised 11, two died in infancy, 1 out of two sets of twin boys...and I have a twin sister!

I put the parents at the bottom because that is where the family starts,,,my grandmother was their darling for 11 months, until her brother arrived! They had it hard, but were raised with a sense of belonging, and cared for one another, and worked for the good of the family when there were hard times. They were raised to be honest and with a strong work ethic...everyone worked. Times have changed now, with smaller families, and betterment of health care, but a big family,,,working and loving each other, wow! They all were great! I have also pictured their hands, the parents that is,,because those hands were the ones who nurtured them, worked for them, disciplined them, and most of all, loved them. I feel proud to say, that this was my grandmother's family.
Blessings, Susan
