Sisters Women's Shelter Project

"Hi, I am Sharon Stearns from Lansing, Michigan.
I have a project for charity that I would like to get everyone possible involved in.
Sisters is a home for women that are pregnant or with small children that for one reason or another have found themselves homeless. They are in desperate need of baby and crib quilts. I have been trying to get some done but due to my physical problems I am finding it difficult to sew . I just received a nice offer from Jennifer Rupert who has kindly offered to help me out by making a baby quilt. Can I please get some more volunteers?
I got hooked up with Sisters through my daughter. She was homeless, pregnant and wanted to die because her life was such a mess. Her boyfriend was in jail, his friend stole her rent money to buy drugs, so she got evicted. She was about six months pregnant before she told me that I had a grandchild on the way which would be my first and that I would never be able to see it because she was going to give it up for adoption. I had no home to give her because at the time I had given mine up to take care of my mother who has Alzheimer's. Sisters convinced her that she was a good person and eventually she decided to keep the baby and go to college and make a life for her and her son. They help thousands of women and children re-enter the good life. I want to help them in any way possible and they sent us a letter asking for quilts or blankets for these babies. I am going to attach all the names on them or the makers can so they will know who they are from.
What they have requested is approx. 44" x 52" so they can use them in cribs. Any design will do. Thank you very much."
