These Moores are of Dutch German ancestory

  • John Moore I, born about 1737, moved from New Amsterdam, NY to Lebanon County, PA, where he was an early settler. He secured land from the PENN Proprietor and the deed written on parchament is still preserved by his descendants, who own and occupy the original tract of land. On that original land purchase, John Moore I built a large stone house, which is still standing and in good condition. In that house he lived until his death.
  • John Moore II, born about 1758, Lebanon County, PA. Was the only child of John Moore I. He inherited the homestead, where he remained a lifelong resident. He reaered a large family. (We only have information on his son, John Moore III).
  • John Moore III, born about 1779 in Lebanon County, PA; moved to Shenandoah County, Virginia as a young man. His father had given him a tract of land located about 4 miles east of Mt. Jackson. Where John Moore III did the work of a pioneer; he improved water power, built a flour and saw mill, also a distillery, cleared and cultivated a large amount of land in that vicinity. A commodious brick house which he built is still standing, and is always kept in excellent repair. In this house, he spent his last years. He married a Miss Heiser, a life long resident of Virginia. They had 3 known children: (all 3 came to Indiana around 1836).

    1- John Moore IV, b. 1799, Shenandoah County, VA; married Sarah ( ), died 17, Jan. 1847; buried Newlin Cemetery, White River Twp., Hamilton Co., IN. (Sarah born 1800; d. 24, Dec. 1857; buried Newlin Cemetery). 3 known children: all died young and are buried at Newlin Cemetery: Columbus G.; George and Sarah E.

  • 2- Moses Moore, born 1809, in Shenandoah County, VA; married ca1832 to Sarah Baner, daughter of Phillip Baner; died 13, Mar. 1873, 63y. 5m. 26d. Buried Newlin Cemetery, White River Twp., Hamilton Co., IN. (Sarah Baner born 1813, Virginia; died 20, Feb. 1888; buried: Newlin Cemetery). 15 known children: i-Leannah Moore, b. 1832, Ohio; died: 23, Nov. 1852 (from having a tooth pulled); buried Newlin Cemetery. ii-Reuben Moore, b. 1834, Ohio; married Abigail Gentry (b. 24, Nov. 1834). They had 8 children; moved to Kansas City, Missouri. iii-Katherine Moore, b. 1836, Ohio; married Phillip Shetterly. They had 6 children. iv-Mary Anne Moore, b. 26, Feb. 1838, Ind., married Jules Shacie LeBlanc, ca1867; died 14, Apr. 1894; buried Newlin Cemetery. They had 6 children. v-Eli Moore, b. 1840, Ind.; married Jane Tuley, 31, Dec. 1868. They moved to Kansas. vi-Sarah Moore, b. 1842, Ind.; married #1-Lewis Brown; #2-George Lever; #3-Jacob Bogart and #4-Jules S. LeBlanc. She and Lewis Brown had 3 children; she and George Lever had a son; and she and Jacob Bogart had a son. vii- Aaron Moore, b. 1845, Ind.; married Lydia (Letta) Hall; died 14, Feb. 1882. They had 5 children. viii- John Moore, b. 22, May 1849, Ind.; married Emma Jenkins, 27, Dec. 1871; died 1910. ix-Isaac Moore, b. 1851, Ind.; married Anne Lemon. x-Moses Moore, Jr., b. 1854, Ind.; died: 28, Oct. 1854; buried: Newlin Cemetery. xi-Satella Moore, b. 1856, Ind.; married William Allen Foland, 1881. xii-Sarah Moore, b. 1857, Indiana. xiii-Susan E. Moore, b. 1863, Indiana. xiv-Amanda Moore, b. 1865, Indiana. xv-Louis Moore, b. 1867, Indiana.

    3- Sarah Moore, born 1812, Shenandoah County, VA; married Jacob Neese; died: 25, Oct. 1852; buried Neese Cemetery, Madison Co., IN. (Jacob Neese, b. 1804, Meigs Co., Ohio; died 2, Feb. 1861; buried Neese Cemetery). They had 11 children, only have the names of 9: Louisa Neese; Amanda Neese; William Neese; Sarah Neese; Elizabeth Neese; John Neese; Hannah Neese; Reuben Neese and Lucinda Neese.
