Branson Barlow, ca. 1765-1839

Branson Barlow, a son of the first William Barlow, is listed in the 1800 census of Robeson County, North Carolina.  He appears again in the Mississippi Territory census of 1816 in Clarke County, Alabama.  He next is listed in the 1830 census of Clarke County, Alabama, and in 1839 his estate was settled in Clarke County.  His heirs are listed as follows:  Lewis Barlow and John Barlow of Clarke County, Alabama; William Barlow of Clarke County, Mississippi; James Barlow of Hines County, Mississippi; Mary Phillips, wife of Elijah Phillips of Clarke County, Alabama; and Sara Pritchard, wife of Jerry Pritchard of Marengo County, Alabama.  One of his descendants, Thaddeus Barlow, owned a plantation on the banks of the Alabama River  in Clarke County, Alabama called Barlow's Bend, where a post office was established in 1877.

John Barlow, ca. 1770-1829

John Barlow, a son of the first William Barlow, is listed in the 1790 census of Robeson County, North Carolina.  In correspondence with Nell Thibodeaux of Hazelhurst, Mississippi, she states that her ancestor, John Barlow, moved from Robeson County, North Carolina to Wilkinson County, Georgia and then to Mississippi in the early 1800's.  He died in 1829 in Perry County, Mississippi of yellow fever.  Many of his descendants still live in Mississippi in Simpson, Perry, and Copiah Counties.
