A LITTLE BIT OF HEAVEN ON EARTH
This page is in memory of my fur-angels Whiskey, Puppy, and Baby
They are gone but not forgotten

Dog's Plea

Treat me kindly, my beloved friend, for no heart in all the world is more
grateful for kindness than the loving heart in me.

Do not break my spirit with a stick, for though I should lick your hand
between blows, your patience and understanding will more quickly
teach me things you would have me learn.

Speak to me often, for your voice is the world's sweetest music,
as you must know by the fierce wagging of my tail
when your footsteps fall on my waiting ear.

Please take me inside when it is cold and wet, for I am a
domesticated animal, no longer accustomed to bitter elements.
I ask no greater glory than the privilege of sitting
at your feet beside the hearth.

Keep my pan filled with fresh water,
for I cannot tell you when I suffer thirst.
Feed me clean food that I may stay well, to romp and play
and do your bidding, to walk by your side, and stand ready,
willing and able to protect you with my life,
should your life be in danger.

And, my friend, when I am very old, and I no longer enjoy
good health, hearing, and sight, do not make heroic efforts to
keep me going...please see that my trusting life is taken gently.
I shall leave this earth knowing with the last breath
I draw that my fate was always safest in your hands.

They will not go quietly
the dogs who've shared our lives.
In subtle ways they let us know
their spirit still survives.
Old habits still make us think
we hear a barking at the door
Or step back when we drop
a tasty morsel on the floor
Our feet still go around the place
the food dish used to be,
And, sometimes, coming home at night,
we miss them terribly.
And although time may bring new friends
and a new food dish to fill,
That one place in our hearts
belongs to them...
and always will.

Every night in my dreams I see you, I feel you
That is how I know you go on.
Far across the distance and spaces between us
You have come to show you go on.

Near, far, wherever you are,
I believe that the heart does go on.
Once more you open the door
And you're here in my heart,
And my heart will go on and on.

Love can touch us one time and last for a lifetime,
And never let go till we're gone.
Love was when I loved you, one true time I hold to
In my life we'll always go on.

Near, far, wherever you are,
I believe that the heart does go on.
Once more you open the door
And you're here in my heart,
And my heart will go on and on.

You're here, there's nothing I fear
And I know that my heart will go on.
We'll stay forever this way,
You are safe in my heart,
And my heart will go on and on

Sadly, some of our loved ones left us in other ways. Please, take a moment to check these sites and read about those who have been seperated from their families. They want to come home but need your help.
