This picture is of the Lewis family in Ontario around 1912. The little guy in the forground is my father, Benjamin Meek, with my grandfather, William Herbert Meek, standing behind him. The lady in the center of the photo with the hat on is my grandmother, Jessie (Lewis) Meek, with her mother, Letti (Hutchins) Lewis in the dark dress standing beside her on her left. Some of the people aren't identified yet.

My research on the Lewis Family has been very interesting and goes back to Glamorganshire, Wales in the 1500's with Edward lewis, However, other genealogists have researched the Lewis name back to 900 A.D. I have not been able to establish a link between my research with Edward and their data. Please visit "Ancient Lewis's" link, further down on this page.

This is a platmap of early Hartford. It shows the land plots of the pioneer settlers including William Lewis in the late 1600's.

Natives fight back as white settlers encroach their lands and break treaties in the New Enland States. Three Lewis family members lost their lives as a result of this uprising.
