ABOUT THE AUTISM COMMUNITY EMAIL LIST:

Purpose: To exchange ideas relevant to housing needs and long term care of people with autism & developmental disabilities who are not able to live independently.

WHAT SUBSCRIPTION OPTIONS ARE AVAILABLE?

Members have two subscription options. You can subscribe to the normal version of the list, which means that every email that is sent to the list is sent immediately to you. Or you can subscribe to the digest version of the list, which means that you will get one email each night that contains all the email sent to the list during the day.

  1. SUBSCRIBE - To subscribe to the list, send a blank message to: AutismCommunity-subscribe@onelist.com

  2. UNSUBSCRIBE - To unsubscribe to the list, send a blank message to: AutismCommunity-unsubscribe@onelist.com

  3. NORMAL - To receive individual emails sent to the list, send a blank message to: AutismCommunity-normal@onelist.com

  4. DIGEST - To change to digest mode, send a blank message to: AutismCommunity-digest@onelist.com

  5. NO-MAIL - To change to no-mail while on vacation or unable to read mail, login to the ONElist website with your email address & ONElist password at http://www.onelist.com

If you can't remember your password, ONElist will mail it to you. Just click on the button that says "forgot password". Once you receive it via email, you can then login and change it to something that's easier to remember or specify hints to serve as a reminder.

WHAT IF I ONLY HAVE EMAIL BUT NO INTERNET ACCESS?

If you do not have Internet access and you need to change your subscription to no-mail, just send a message to the listowner at: AutismCommunity-owner@onelist.com You can use email commands for all other subscription options.

HOW DO I SEND MAIL TO THE LIST?

To send mail to the list using the email address that you subscribed with, send messages to: AutismCommunity@onelist.com

I TRIED SENDING AN EMAIL TO THE LIST AND IT NEVER SHOWED UP

This could be for several reasons. Under some circumstances new subscribers will receive a confirmation email they must reply to. If you did not respond to it, your subscription is not complete. Since this is a restricted list, the listowner must approve your subscription before you can send mail to the list. You will receive a Welcome Message once your subscription is approved. If you send an email from an email address that is not the same as the one you provided when you registered, the email will be ignored. Internet traffic can also affect how long it takes for your message to reach the list.

HOW DO I CONTACT THE LISTOWNER?

Any questions about the list can be sent to: AutismCommunity-owner@onelist.com

DO I HAVE TO REGISTER AT ONELIST?

You will need to register at the ONElist website if you want to access their site to change your subscription options. However, all subscription options, except for no-mail can be requested via email commands. If you want to register, you only need to do so the first time you're subscribing to a list. When subscribing to a second list, you only need to enter your email address and password in the Registration screen.

Once you have filled out the Registration Form screen, you will be sent a confirmation email. This is to verify that we have the correct email address for you. The confirmation email will contain instructions on how to reply and get your subscription confirmed. Until you reply to the confirmation email, you will not be subscribed to the list.

If you don't receive your confirmation email, or accidentally delete it, you can have another one sent to you. Go to the ONElist web site and select the Member Center link on the menu bar on the left. There will be a button to send you another confirmation email.

I KNOW SOMEONE WHO WANTS TO JOIN THE LIST - WHAT DO I DO?

Tell them to send a blank email to: AutismCommunity-subscribe@onelist.com You can also let the listowner know that you have referred someone to the list and that will speed up the process.

CAN I USE MORE THAN ONE ADDRESS FOR MY SUBSCRIPTION?

Yes, ONElist enables you to enter an alias address that you can send mail from. Login to the ONElist website using the address that you're registered with and your ONElist password. Toward the top of the page underneath your email address there will be three links. Click it, then enter the other address that you would like associated with this registration. You can also change your password and update your ONElist user profile. Any changes you make here will also be reflected in any other subscriptions you have through ONElist.
