to America when he was about 25 years old, lived in Ohio and in Guthrie
County, Iowa in 1855 or 1856 on section 14 in Cass Township. He and
his wife owned 80 acres of excellent land and raised a large number of
cattle. CIVIL WAR RECORD: John enlisted 1862 in Company I of the
29th Iowa Infantry. Mustered out at New Orleans in 1865 for a disability.
